BIELOKOSTOLSKÁ, B. Packaging as a way of marketing communication. Bachelor thesis. Brno: Mendel University, 2018. The bachelor thesis focuses mainly on the characteristics of the packaging as a tool of marketing communication between the seller and the customer. The theoretical part defines the concepts of product policy, packaging decisions, packaging definition and function. In the practical part Smurfit Kappa Obaly Štúrovo, a. s. a producer of packaging and packaging materials made of corrugated cardboard is represented. Additionally an in-depth interview with some of Smurfit Kappa Obaly Štúrovo, a. s.´s customers is being conducted, focusing mainly on the cardboard packaging of this company (production, design, and function) and questionnaire survey with consumers to gain their opinions and preferences for the packaging as a way of marketing communication. According to the information obtained, the drafts for Smurfit Kappa Obaly Štúrovo, a. s. are the results of a survey.

This thesis is focused on the issue of microflora of packaged cut meat. It is characterized by significant external and internal factors that influence growth and the proliferation of microorganisms. The next part is a brief description of groups of microorganisms causing spoilage of packaged meat and microorganisms causing disease from food. There are mentioned methods of prolonging the shelf life of meat, the most substantial part of which is devoted to the possibilities of meat packaging, the functions of packaging, plastic materials and possible migration of substances from them are also mentioned. The experimental part of the thesis is focused on the comparison of differently packaged samples of pork meat from the point of view of important groups of microorganisms. A significant part is the comparison of color changes during storage of differently packaged meat measured on a spectrophotometer.

This Bachelor thesis focuses on problematics of machinery and equipment for meat production. The first chapter is dedicated to history and present of the meat production. In the second chapter I focus on purchase and monetization of animals for slaughter. Carcass processing is described in chapter three. The fourth chapter describes meat production in general. In the fifth and the main chapter, all important operations of meat production, machines and equipment used, are analyzed. The sixth chapter deals with the packaging of meat products. Equally important chapter is the seventh one, which summarizes hygienic requirements for meat production. The last, eighth chapter deals with defects in meat products.
Types of packaging and their representation in municipal waste

The bachelor thesis deals with the types of packaging materials, related legislation and the use of packaging in practice. The research part of the work presents individual types of materials and their characteristics. An important part of waste treatment is the recycling and utilization of packaging waste. The work presents different recycling principles for individual materials. The practical part analyzes the individual representation of packaging materials of selected consumer products.
Testování antifungální aktivity obalových materiálů s rostlinnými extrakty

This diploma thesis deals with testing of antifungal activity of packaging materials with plant extracts. First part is a literature review, consisting of three chapters. First chapter contains basic characteristics of filamentous fungi and their metabolic products. Second chapter describes properties of packaging materials used in the food industry with a focus on active packaging. Last chapter of the literature review discusses the essential oils of plants. There are described the properties of essential oils, chemical composition and samples of plants from which the essential oils are most often obtained. The practical part of this thesis deals with the microbiological analysis of selected food stored in the packaging with active foil. This foil was enriched by spray with a mixture of plant extracts. The aim of this experimental determination was to find out if the active foil has an antifungal impact. Tested microorganism was Penicillium chrysogenum.
Interpretation of the Term Packaging Using the Apple Brand as an Example

Bachelor thesis "Interpretation of the term packaging using the Apple brand as an example" is divided into two parts which are closely mutually linked. The first, theoretical part, describes the history and evolution of product packages from their early beginnings up to the present. Packages initially mostly fulfilled their original protection function which aimed to safely transport various goods and to preserve the quality of food. Today, the operational range of wrappings, or packages so to speak, increased and a new term, packaging, is being used to represent all its aspects. While retaining high protection standards, packaging must also serve as a tool for promotion and differentiation. With regard to the importance of this phenomenon for contemporary marketing, I added an analysis of the term and its inclusion into the marketing mix, which serves as a summary of the basic marketing principles, to the first part of the bachelor thesis. The second part focuses on the demonstration of complexity and importance of packaging in practice as a full-valued marketing tool. To show the right usage of this tool in all its realms of significance I chose a well known American company called Apple Inc. which develops and manufactures various software applications and electronic devices.

There were analyzed the amount of caffeine, amounts of polyphenols, color, sensory properties and the spectra were measured using near infrared spectroscopy in three kinds of coffee. Analyses were made after roasting coffees. The coffee was then packaged into three different types of packaging - paper, package with one-way valve and into a vakuum package, each series of samples were stored in three different conditions - normal conditions (20 °C, 40% RH), a fridge (4-6 °C, 80% RH) and variable conditions (15-30 °C, 40-60% RH). After three, six and nine months was then carried out analyses for all samples. Subsequently the differences between the baseline sample and the results in different time were evaluated and the results were compared. It was found out that coffee quality sharply decreased after three months, caffeine over time decreased slightly. Sum of polyphenols sharply decreasesd after 3 months and their value was at a similar level. The color of the coffee changed after 3 and 6 months rapidly, but then the colour approached the original surface.
Operations proposal for the packaging of auto lights used in private vehicles

The aim of this master thesis is to propose a new operation arrangements for the packaging of auto lights used in private vehicles. For this solution had been used a theoretical knowledge from large areas of logistics, production management, lean manufacturing methodologies, and even the practical experience and knowledge of the particular conditions of the company. Conducted research has detected a critical areas in the company and there was designed a system to remove them. The results of this study allow implementing certain measures, which will improve the company efficiency and increase its competitiveness.
Proposal of Business Expansion – Building-up of Packaging Unit

The topic of the thesis is Proposal of Business Expansion - Building-up of Packaging Unit. The proposal is based on the analysis of the current production capacity and production equipment, and on the analysis of money management and ascertained shortcomings. On the basis of the carried out analysis a proposal for building-up of a new production unit and a recommendation on purchase of new machine equipment has been made. A calculation of investment costs is a part of the proposal.
