Reproducing Hawthone experiments of Elton Mayo: case study of small group work efficiency

The Bachelor thesis "Reproducing Hawthorne experiments of Elton Mayo: case study of small group work efficiency" describes research in a company. The goals of this thesis are reproducing the experiments made by Elton Mayo in Western Electric co. and finding efficient methods for improving the work efficiency. The research is experimental and covers thirteen weeks during which ten independent variables were tested. The variables were changing financial motivation, evaluation and work organization. The efficiency is measured by five service quality indicators. The interpretation also includes feedback from the participants and their manager. The most efficient arrangement was work organization tested in week 7 and it was implemented into company's daily routine afterwards. First the goals of the thesis and the research problem are introduced followed by theoretical background, selected methods of improving work efficiency used in the thesis. In the research section there is a part concerning methodology and group specifications and of course the research itself. This thesis deals with an analysis, selection and proposition of the transformation of the company economic information system. We are talking about company, where the business object is distribution and service of Škoda car. On this analysis is built the following implementation process from the product selection to the final transform of the whole corporation to the economic information system Pohoda from Stormware. This change should help to eliminate the inefficient areas, contribute to increase productivity and thereby consolidate the market status.
Management Style and Efficiency of Work in the selected Workgroup

The thesis deals with the determination and analysis of management style in the selected work-group, employee satisfaction and identifying work efficiency. A partial goal was to divide employees to two groups according to their happiness. The first group included happy employees and the second group included unhappy employees. The next step was to identify the factors of each group that influence satisfaction of the workers the most. The theoretical part contains the theoretical knowledge of psychology and sociology with a focus on the definition of working groups, management styles and work efficiency. The practical part summarizes the author's own research, based on which the author analyzed the style of management, satisfaction of workers, with various aspects of management style and other factors, which to some extent affect their overall satisfaction, overall efficiency and effectiveness of each individual worker. Finally, the overall effectiveness of the selected group was detected.
Carreer planning

My thesis is based on the possibilities of career growth in the field of banking. I will study the development of careers in two different but comparable financial institutions. The theoretical part of my thesis will focus on four types of career structures: full-time, part-time, full-time with management track, and irregular. In the following part of my thesis, I will show how these four types search for employment, develop their careers, and negotiate payment and benefits. In this thesis, I will compare the working conditions of two banks. Based on personal interviews, surveys, and observation, I have ascertained and graded the each bank for self-realization, work-study opportunities, business culture, and job satisfaction, relations between management and employees and company communications. I also studied the average length of an assignment, which is a good general indicator.
Self-Efficacy and Work Efficiency

The tagets of this thesis were to test with a chosen organization's staff how much self-efficacy depending of particular tasks affected the quality of fulfilling those tasks, to recommend suitable methods of increasing self-efficacy and to suggest a method of task formulation corresponding to social cognitive theory of man in organization. The research was done at a particular section of fiscal administration. The requisite information was obtained by questionnaire method, the received dates were compiled by the suitable statistical methods. The consequent results allowed to say there was no positive relation betwen self-efficacy during fulfilling particular tasks and the efficiency of the particular section's offices. One of the most important results was that self-efficacy itself did not affect the efficiency of the particular offices. The differences in the efficiency resulted from the managers'work. The thesis includes recommendations resulted from its targets.
