Where does the Czech policy of mental health go?
Kondorová, Lenka ; Háva, Petr (advisor) ; Bodnár, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with the Czech and international ideas applied in the "Strategy of Reform of Psychiatric Care" issued in 2013 by the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. The main starting point of this work is the fact that the care of people with mental illness in Czech and international environment is oriented on the biological treatment of the patient with psycho- pharmaceuticals and that there is a deficit in the area of psychosocial treatment. International and Czech mental health policy seeks to promote a bio-psycho-social approach to patient's care. However, current psychiatry continues to be involved in conducting clinical research focused on the efficiency of psycho-pharmaceuticals. These studies are driven and sponsored mainly by the pharmaceutical industry. But international and Czech policies are still not able to adequately reflect this situation within the field of psychiatry. The Czech Republic has not so far paid attention to mental health issues and has lagged behind the other developed countries in this area. The empirical part of this work is divided into two parts. The first part of the research focuses on the Czech and international ideas applied in the "Strategy of Reform of Psychiatric Care" issued in 2013 by Ministry of Health. Specifics of social work with individuals
HAVLÍČKOVÁ, Silvie
The diploma thesis is focused on the problem of the specific features of working with an individual. As this is a very wide topic difficult to grasp for the interviewees, a narrower focus was created, on the area of mental health/illness. The theoretical part is divided into two sections. In the first one, a description of mental illness is found, to permit basic clarity and the imagination of working with this target group. The second part focuses on social activity, on the problem of caring for the mentally ill, and last but not least on the Reformation of psychiatric care, when the origin of Mental Health Centers (further mentioned as MHC) is related also to the adjustment of the work, methodology and approach of social workers. The practical part was created based on a qualitative research, via a semi-structured interview with workers, focusing on social work with mentally ill people. Due to creating an MHC in FOKUS Vysočina Region and via cooperating with the medical sector, i.e. also the Psychiatric Hospital in Havlíčkův Brod, the survey was implemented in the Havlíčkův Brod area serving as a catchment area. The aim of this thesis is to describe specific features of social work from social workers´ side working with mentally ill people (individuals) in the Havlíčkův Brod area. Using the research question: What specific features do social workers claim when working with mentally ill individuals. The executed research has proven that the specific theories and techniques used most include the interview, active listening, crisis intervention and the approach focused on the client. Further in the area of housing, finance, relationships, and the mental illness itself. The non-profit sector workers see a specific feature in cooperating with the medical sector, necessary for working in MHC and in the Recovery approach (the CARe method).
The system and the financing system of psychiatric care in the Czech Republic in the period 2010-2016
Křížová, Natálie ; Lukášová, Tereza (advisor) ; Bartůsková, Lucia (referee)
The bachelor thesis focuses on mental health, which is becoming a socio-economic problem these days. Since there is a constant prevalence of patients with mental illnesses and thus an increase of a burden in the economic system, this work explains the system of psychiatric care, which is crucial for the future development of mental health of Czech population. Based on the analysis of the issue it is evident that the effort to manage the care system to community care will do not contribute to the reduction of treatment costs, but on the other hand, will facilitate the accessibility to psychiatric facilities for patients. The funding of psychiatric care is not based on the national health system, which influences the direction of a large part of the funds for treatment in psychiatric hospitals.
The motivation of general nurses for work in a psychiatric hospital
PROCHÁZKOVÁ, Zuzana
Motivation is a force which modifies and influences human behaviour in working process. It´s very important for nurses to be motivated at work education and the chance of its use in nursing profession represents one of the significant motivators. The aim of this work was to elaborate the basic motivational and demotivational factors for nurses used when deciding for the job in a psychiatric hospital and explore if qualifying education knowledge and study practice affect the decision for the job in a psychiatric hospital. Regarding these targets, the following hypotheses were set: H1: Meaningfulness of the work represents the main motivational factor for the profession choice in a psychiatric hospital. H2: Fear of the potential threat from the patient is the main demotivational factor. H3: Knowledge from the qualifying education doesn´t affect the job choice in a psychiatric hospital. H4: Practice during the studies has motivational impact on the following choice of work in a psychiatric hospital. To obtain the necessary data, the quantitative research was used with a questionnaire as a research instrument. There were 100 nurses working in psychiatric nursing included in the study, who received qualifying education at the higher medical school as gualified general nurses or at the university in nursing bachelor studies. Based on the results obtained, we examined that the interest in psychiatric nursing is thought to be the primary motivational component, but not the meaningfulness of the work. Psychical intensity of the work was classified as the main demotivational factor, not the fear of the potential threat from the patient. Regarding the education and practice it was noted, that the knowledge from the qualifying education doesn´t affect the job choice in a psychiatric hospital and practice during education has motivational impact on the following choice of work in a psychiatric hospital. As an outcome of the research the recommendation was created, which can be used as a scheme for qualifying education in terms of motivation and effective preparations of nurses for their work.
