The issue of intermodal transport connection between Czech Republic and the seaports

The subject of the thesis is the analysis of the intermodal connection between Czech Republic and the seaports. The importance of this connection for the Czech Republic as for an open economy with a large volume of international trade is undervalued. The connection between Czech Republic and the ports is mainly provided by the container combined transport road -- rail. It is necessary to pay attention to the development of this field as it has a potential to be the most effective way of transport considering both economical and environmental criteria. The aim of the thesis is to survey the issue of intermodal connection with the ports, to evaluate the current status and future development options, including the barriers to this development. The result of the thesis is an analyzed current situation: the ports to which Czech Republic is connected have been determined as well as the modes of transport and the key players on the Czech market that provide the shipping services to the ports. A significant part of attention is paid to METRANS, a.s. which is the leading provider of intermodal transport services between Czech republic and the ports. A major problem associated with the development of combined transport is the harmonization of the conditions between road and rail transport. There is one chapter of the thesis which is devoted to this issue. Thanks to the information obtained from companies operating in the intermodal transport business, it was possible to calculate the costs related to the transport of the consignment by road and rail route, to highlight the problems in the daily operation of combined transport, to identify the weaknesses that may hinder the development of the METRANS or to bring other real outcomes.

An analysis of a transport operator´s job description My degree work is centred on the problems of a transport operator´s job in a forwarding agency. The introduction provides an explanation of a term of "dispatch service" and explains why logistics is so important in transport. Then there is a description of the transport development after 1990 and the changes transport had to undergo in the time of globalization. The main part of the work deals with the operator´s working procedure from an offer to a demand, an order and other actions to the final realization. A model example is given to represent an actual transporting process. The work also states conditions under which transport is executed, for example payment terms and terms of delivery. Next chapters outline the way of calculation, give a detailed description of collecting service (which is implemented within the bounds of CS Expres system) and of storing problems including the introduction of bar codes in stores and possibilities of logistic service extension. The conclusion is focused on the firm developing strategy.

Container transport in the international trade

In the first chapter, this bachelor thesis describes legislative framework for transport. In the second one it deals with the combined transport and multimodal operators. The third chapter focuses on the container transport, its development till the present time; containers are defined as well as their types and their use. In the fourth chapter this thesis includes the other types of freight transport with an emphasis on the maritime transport. In the end there is a practical example of a particular importer of the goods.

Dále popisuji vývoj doprovázené kombinované přepravy Ro-La na území ČR. Hlavní cíl práce kladu na představení produktu Bohemia Express operátora Bohemiakombi za účelem ekonomické kalkulace jednotlivých způsobů přepravy i v případě započítání externích nákladů.

Diplomová práce mapuje dosavadní vývoj kontinentálních kombinovaných přeprav silnice - železnice v Evropě i ČR. V práci se autor věnuje jak teoretickým aspektům kombinovaných přeprav, tak i praktickým zkušenostem evropských i českých operátorů a snaží se odpovědět na otázku, která z forem kombinované přepravy (doprovázená či nedoprovázená) je perspektivní v podmínkách České republiky.Nastíněny jsou také současné problémy kombinovaných přeprav, které brání jejich většímu rozvoji.

Práce se zabývá oblastí kombinované přepravy v České republice. V teoretické části se čtenář seznámí s definicí pojmu kombinovaná přeprava, vývojem, výhodami a možnostmi budoucího rozvoje tohoto progresivního přepravního systému, jehož další rozvoj je z velké části podmíněn státní dopravní politikou České republiky. Praktická část se zabývá vývojem konkrétního podnikatelského subjektu, který působí v oblasti kombinované přepravy již několik desítek let. Je provedena finanční analýza a srovnání s konkurencí.

Soustřeďuju se nejen na aktuálních a historických faktech rozvoje a fungování kombinované přepravy, ale také věnuju velkou pozornost čistě praktickým a také technickým náležitostem efektivního fungování kombinované přepravy jako jsou typy přepravních jednotek, technické možnosti překládky přepravních jednotek, problémy a alternativy.
