The Effects of Electronic Records of Sales: A Synthetic Control Method Analysis

The objective of this thesis is to analyze the impact of the electronic records of sales (ERS) implemented on December 1, 2016, in the Czech Republic. The ERS orders given entrepreneurs to use special cash boxes and to send data about single sales to the Financial Authority immediately after each transaction. Experience shows that the ERS reduced tax evasion and the shadow economy. This thesis fills a gap in literature as no study has yet examined the impact of ERS on macroeconomic variables - gross domestic product (GDP) per capita, unemployment rate and harmonized consumer price index (HCPI). To analyze it, I apply SCM by Abadie and Gardeazabal (2003), Abadie et al. (2010) and Abadie et al. (2015) that proposes the way how to evaluate the impact of political interventions using a quantitative approach. Using data from the Eurostat and OECD databases from Q1 2004-Q3 2019, the method allows me to construct a counterfactual outcome for GDP per capita, unemployment rate and HCPI in the absence of the implementation of the ERS. I also apply the extension of original SCM - generalize synthetic control method by Xu (2017) and augmented synthetic control method by Ben-Michael et al. (2018) as robustness checks. Brexit and mutual trade between the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom

This bachelor thesis deals with the current issue of leaving the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from the European Union, assesses the possible impact of Brexit on mutual trade between the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom and evaluates its possible impact on the Czech economy. After a brief overview of the history of the UK membership in the EU, a description of the complicated EU and UK negotiations follows. Another chapter deals with some studies and analyzes evaluating the impact of Brexit on the British economy. The following discussion concerns negotiated Withdrawal Agreement and some possible EU-UK mutual relation models after finishing the transition period - membership in the European Economic Area (Norwegian model), negotiation of a free trade agreement (Swiss model, Canadian model), withdrawal without agreement (hard Brexit). The UK is one of the most important export partners of the Czech Republic, which results from the evaluation of mutual trade exchange data. In the final part, this thesis examines the possible influence of the decline of the British economy consumption on GDP of the Czech Republic using the Input- Output analysis and evaluates the potential impact of Brexit on the mutual trade between the Czech Republic and the UK in the automotive industry....

Territory development strategy in relation to construction production

This diploma thesis deals with comparison of regions of the Czech Republic between national economy in terms of construction production and selection of region with the greatest potential for development of construction production. In the theoretical part is defined the term region, which is followed by regional economics and politics. Another topic addressed is regional development territorial development strategies and indicators that capture the differences between regions. The practical part deals with the characteristics of the national economy and construction in individual regions, which is folloved by a draft strategy dealing with problems in the field of construction. The last part of the thesis, regions are compared according to the given indicators and the regions with the greatest potential for the development of construction production are indentified.

Selected socio-economic indicators in the Czech Republic and their comparison with selected EU countries

The subject of this work is the approximation and explanation of methods of evaluation of economic variables using indicators and their systems. The thesis also uses a method of a multi-parametric comparison of the indicators. In the thesis are described the individual indicators, then the methods of their evaluation and the creation of the multi-parametric comparison. The thesis deals also with the harmonization of economic statistics and the definition of the assessed area. For practical use, indicators are then selected: Gross Domestic Product, Labor Productivity, Unit Costs, Unemployment Rate, Real Effective Rates, R & D expediture and Human Resources in Science and Technology. Selected indicators are evaluated from a time and space point of view. Furthermore, a method of the multi-parametric comparison was performed for these four indicators: GDP per capita, unemployment rate, R & D expenditure and unit labor costs. The analysis of the indicators shows that currently the economies of all selected countries are growing. Despite the EU's similarity efforts, there are major differences between economies. The great potential for further economic development is technological progress. The way states deals with this opportunity, it can decide on their future development.

Economic Policy in the European Union Member Countries

This masters thesis is focused on a comparation between agricultures of Czech republic and Hungary. The comparison is done for the periods before and after entering the European union. The goal of the thesis is to observe the influence of the Common agricultural policy on the agriculture of both countries. An analysis of development of selected macroeconomic indicators and products was performed.

Labour productivity in an international context

The diploma thesis deals with the labour productivity in an international context. The aim of this thesis is to map the development of labour productivity in individual countries of the European Union and to evaluate how labour productivity contributes to the economic growth of individual states. The theoretical part is focused on labour productivity and economic growth. The practical part analyses labour productivity and economic growth of individual EU member states. Consequently, it is pointed out the interdependence of labour productivity and economic growth. The impact of labour productivity on economic growth is examined through regression analysis. The result of the thesis is the division of states into countries where labour productivity affects economic growth and states where it is not. Labour productivity and economic growth are assessed over the period 2007-2016.
