Common agricultural Policy of the EU - problems and attempts for reform
Nováková, Markéta ; Hraba, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Borkovec, Aleš (referee)
This diploma thesis tackles the issue of key reforms of the Common Agricultural Policy (hereinafter "CAP") made by the European Union (hereinafter "EU") during the last years and includes the context and the reasons which led to it. Despite the range of positive results which the CAP of the EU brings, it is followed by controversy. Agriculture as a topic rouses emotions and remains to be a delicate theme which often divides politicians. Disputes concerning conception of the policy are lead not only on the European and domestic level but also on the grounds of international organisations. Those which I would like to emphasize are particularly negotiations before the World Trade Organisation which tries to liberalize the international trade. A focus of this thesis is put on analysis of the development after year 2003 when the last significant turnover of the policy took place. Since this turnover until today we are witnessing only gradual changes. The aim of this thesis to analyse and evaluate whether if and in what areas did the EU make a change in the policy which reacted on its's objective issues and critics. After a brief introduction of the policy, the first part of the thesis focuses on specific problematic issues of the CAP that are criticised. I will attempt to describe and explain selected...

"Gentlemen, please, take of your hats": Methods of dating and interpretation of photographies from years 1850–1918 through historical mens fashion
Polách, Radek
„GENTLEMEN, PLEASE, TAKE OFF YOUR HATS“ – Methods of dating and interpretation of photographies from years 1850-1918 through historical mens fashion is compacted material for professional description of historical photographic material from noblemens collection funds based on basic knowledge of mens and partially child fashion, and related clothing accessories. In its entirety it brings a large amount of knowledge from history of the then mens fashion, which was after the downfall of the Austro-Hungarian empire overlooked or presented only in narrowly specialized sections, e.g. in the military section. A large part of this publication is based not only on the knowledge of description of mens clothing, but mainly of headwear. It is this clothing accessory that is pivotal to the observed era, and with a closer look, it can help accurately date and describe people captured on historical photographs. It is primarily meant for the specialized staff of memory institutions of Czech Republic, who deal with these given issues. At the same though, it can allow curators and owners of historical funds a way to describe collections of exhibits that are kept in their collection funds.

Combined Action Program (CAP) as a successful tool of US COIN application in vietnam war
Bálint, Miroslav ; Hornát, Jan (advisor) ; Raška, Francis (referee) ; Fojtek, Vít (referee)
The American war in Vietnam was one of the Cold war conflict and United States had entered this war within their policy of communist detained. United States had supported France first. Later, they took political and military responsibility themselves. Despite many recommendations, US Military Command had chosen conventional way of fighting, which was based on large scale strikes against enemy to undermine his will. This strategy reflected US history of war success and technological superiority. But the main difference was theatre of conflict itself. The enemy was fighting guerrilla way and avoided large scale struggles. The only solution was to the application of counterinsurgency strategy, which was focused on winning "Hearts and minds" of Vietnamese population. Its development occurred in everyday fighting experience and combat troops had started to apply it successfully in many Vietnam areas. Unfortunately, American army wasn't able to apply this successful model across the board and insisted on conventional way of pacification till the end of the Vietnam war.
Effect of promoter sequence on utilization of NAD+ as a substrate for transcription initiation by RNA polymerase
Pinkas, Daniel ; Krásný, Libor (advisor) ; Fišer, Radovan (referee)
For a long time, 5' cap has been thought to be privilege only for eukaryotic organisms in form of 7-methylguanosine cap at the end of mRNA. This was changed only a few years ago. By using methods liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry a new molecule associated with RNA of Escherichia coli has been found. This molecule turned out to be nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+ ) attached to 5' end of some small regulatory RNAs (sRNA). Later it has been shown, that RNA polymerase can attach NAD+ at 5' of RNA ab initio, meaning that RNA polymerase can utilize NAD+ as a substrate for transcription initiation. To some extent substrate for transcription initiation is chosen based on promoter sequence. Crucial requirement is presence of adenine at +1 position of DNA coding strand. This thesis focuses on promoter sequence requirements for transcription initiation with NAD+ . As a template for transcription four promoters with different modifications and their chimeras are used: RNA1, Pveg, lac UV5 and rrnB P1. Also, I tried to compare RNA polymerase from E. coli and B. subtilis in terms of transcription initiation substrate usage. Lastly, I describe here isolation of NudC, enzyme that cleaves NAD+ to nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) and adenosine monophosphate (AMP). NudC will be used for upcoming...
Production of cap
Braško, Zdenko ; Staněk, Vojtěch (referee) ; Podaný, Kamil (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to propose and design the production of the cap. The cap is welded to the tube of roller regal and is used for closing the tube. They together make a fixed assembly. There is a bearing molded from inside the cap and shaft passes through the center of the cap. The main function of whole assembly is to rotate the tube around its own axis. The cap will made from deep - drawing steel DC04 with a thickness of 2 mm. After consideration various possible variants for the cap production, there was chosen deep drawing without reduction of thickness as the most profitable technology. The shape of the component was modified from the technology review. There is proposed a tool that will be used for production the caps. The caps will be produced within three operations: the first two operations form a central cup and the third operation makes the final shape of the cap. Drawings for the tool are created and delivered as part of this thesis. Based on the necessary force and work calculation, it was chosen eccentric press machine S 160 E from the ŠMERAL company. With the 25 000 series, the costs of production one piece are 51,65 CZK.
The Evolution of American Contrainsurgency in the Vietnam and Iraq Wars
Reif, Tomáš ; Raška, Francis (advisor) ; Bečka, Jan (referee)
The United States was throughout the history engaged in several conflicts which had a character of counterinsurgency. These are - among others- War in Vietnam and second War in Iraq. These two conflicts are examined in this diploma thesis. Author poses a question how did counterinsurgency tactics evolved in both conflicts. The second question is whether the United States implemented counterinsurgency experiences from Vietnam War in Iraq War and if so, how they were implemented. The United States developed several counterinsurgency programs and the most of them were successful - they prevented Vietcong from spreading its influence in South Vietnam. However these programs were often poorly financed, or they did not gain enough support from The US Army, because the Army prefered conventional approach in fighting against communists. The United States fought a conventional warfare in the first few years of Iraq War and it had not succeeded in garnering popularity among civilians. The change came with a new commander- general David Petraeus. Petraeus was inspired by the experiences from the Vietnam War (and other conflicts) and he concentrated his effort on providing safety to Iraqi population. This strategy paid off and the Army had much less losses during his command then during the pre - 2007 period....

Integration of Turkey into the European Union
Švec, Ondřej ; Glazar, Ondřej (advisor) ; Dingová, Vilma (referee)
Integration into the European Union is a chance for candidate countries to catch up with the average income level in the current member states. This study shows economic impact of Turkey's membership on foreign trade between EU countries and Turkey and also shows impact on EU budget. To gauge the effect of Turkey's accession the gravity model of trade was used. It has been estimated that the trade effect of membership implies 60% increase in trade volume. The dynamic model find out that shared EU membership could lead to 5% increase in trade every year for next ten years and it could represent 1% annual growth rate of Turkey's GDP. Economic impact of growth in EU exports to Turkey will be rather small, more important for current EU members are consequences of Turkey's integration on EU budget. The estimated cost of subsidies for Turkey lies between 0.09% and 0.23% of EU's GDP assuming current financial framework. The total subsidies will amount up to 5.5% of Turkish GDP. These results suggest that EU membership, particularly its effect on trade and EU budget, could lead to large economic gains for the new member states with some costs for current EU members.
