Construction of masculinity and femininity by transsexuals who have not undergone sex reassignment surgery
Chovancová, Martina ; Pospíšilová, Marie (advisor) ; Hrešanová, Ema (referee)
The diploma thesis examines the construction of masculinity and femininity of young transsexual individuals who have not undergone surgical gender reassignment. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part builds on the theory of gender stereotype and the research of Gagné and Tewksbury, according to which transsexual individuals try to suppress their feminine or masculine selves as expected, while maintaining relationships. Furthermore, the work is based on Mandal's and Jakubowski's study, which confirms the theory that transsexual women live more in a gender stereotype than transsexual men who live in accordance with their original and new gender roles. In the practical part, a qualitative survey is carried out using the method of grounded theory, and six transsexual respondents were interviewed using semi- structured interviews: three transsexual men and three transsexual women. The sample is selected from transgender individuals who have not undergone operative gender reassignment and have decided to share their story on social networks. The aim of the research part is to find out how transsexual people without operative gender reassignment construct their masculinity and femininity. The main finding was that transsexual individuals who chose not to undergo sex...

Šatalíková, Adéla ; Pech, Milan (advisor) ; Bendová, Eva (referee)
My bachelor thesis is going to be about feminist photography of 70s and 80s of the 20th century as a tool for political and social change. At the beginning, a brief history of feminism will be presented. This part of the work will also be devoted, for example, to the reasons that led to the fact that there were not big women artists in the history of art and inequality between genders in history. After introduction into the historical context, Im going to focus on the reasons why the medium of photography is the right tool for political and social change and why this medium was used by feminist artists of the 70s and 80s. Afterwards i will focus on individual issues that the feminist artists thematized. It contains for example rape and violence against women in general, the right to decide about your own body, abortion issues, the use of pop culture to break down stereotypes, self- portrait as a tool to fight traditional image of feminity, the issue of raising girls versus boys, and the conflict between "white" and "black" feminism. The conclusion of the thesis will summarize the practical impacts of feminist art on society. "Pole dance teaches femininity, but it can be incredibly masculine": A gender analysis of the pole dance phenomenon
Čákorová, Marie ; Soares Moura, Eva (advisor) ; Moskvina, Yuliya (referee)
In sport, as in society, men and women face different expectations related to their gender roles. This also applies to pole dance, which is a sport dominated by women and is generally perceived as feminine. In recent years, however, it has become more and more popular among men. As a result, ingrained stereotypes about the presence of men in pole dance, and about the sport itself, are possible to change. Nevertheless, what is the relationship between gender and the self-presentation of dancers, and to what extent are they themselves involved in reinforcing, reproducing, and breaking down gender stereotypes within this community? This bachelor thesis observes doing gender in pole dance and aims to answer these questions. The work draws on the the theory of West and Zimmerman, who describe an impact of gender expectations on individual behavior and thus the process of doing gender. For a detailed understanding of this phenomenon, data were collected through qualitative semi- structured interviews. Those were realized with six male communication partners and four female partners, who actively participate in pole dance and have several years of experience performing. For evaluation of these interviews, the methods of thematic analysis were used. Results show the following. First, the...
The workload of teachers and its management in the context of the teacher's gender specifics
VANČURA, Jakub
Firstly, the theoretical framework of this thesis presents definitions of terms that will be needed further on in the thesis. Primarily, there are definitions of stress, teaching profession and gender. The theoretical part of the thesis also serves as an overview of existing knowledge about the occupational stress of teachers. Lastly, I will try to elucidate the problems associated with measuring and interpreting selected studies on the occupational stress of teachers. The practical part of the thesis states three research problems. The first one explores the connection between the teacher's biological sex and the degree of occupational burnout, the second research problem examines the connection between the personality type of the teacher and the degree of occupational burnout and the last one puts the teacher's workload in the context of an inclusive environment. In principle, it has been established that individual mediators have no significant influence on the perceived workload of the teacher.

Gender Aspects of Social Work from the Perspective of Students of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences
JAROŠOVÁ, Martina
"Gender" often refers to gender roles, which means the expected behavior from a given gender. Gender is closely related to gender stereotypes that lead to gender discrimination. Gender stereotypes and prejudices occur to a large extent in social work. Social workers are managing them, and this can lead to an inappropriate assessment of the client's situation. This is because not all social workers are aware of gender stereotypes and prejudices, and they admit. Another opinion is also how social workers perceive gender stereotypes. A large number of workers consider them generally valid and some of them do not. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to find out whether there are statistically significant differences in the perceptions of the characteristics of men and women as social workers in the social sciences at the Faculty of Health and Social Studies. Research question: What is the occurrence of gender stereotypes in the Faculty of Health and Social Studies? Hypotheses: Is there a statistically significant difference between social classes in the perception of the characteristics of men - social workers? Is there a statistically significant difference between the social sciences in the perception of the characteristics of women - social workers? Quantitative research strategy, questioning method, anonymous questionnaire technique using semantic differential technique were used. The data obtained was generated using descriptive statistics in MS Excel and hypothesis testing was performed in SPSS using the t-test method. The interviewees attributed attributes to a social worker or social worker who were defined by a semantic differential. Properties (active - passive) were bounded by ranges from positive (1) to negative (5). The results of the research we observe that the field of studying SPVs have a more positive view (with some exceptions) to the social worker / social worker before studying art RPP. Research results can serve as a source of information not only for students of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences, but also for teachers who can extend their teaching on this issue.
"I am no bird; and no net ensnares me": Female Independence in the English Novel 1795 - 1820
Jiránková, Lucie ; Nováková, Soňa (advisor) ; Horová, Miroslava (referee)
In the 1790s, the framework of women's protests against the injustice they faced underwent a distinctive change, which inevitably imprinted itself into contemporary literature. The period discussed in this thesis was chosen to exemplify the beginnings of feminist awakening present in the novels of three women writers: Mary Hays, Mary Wollstonecraft, and Jane Austen. The aim of this thesis is to explore different attitudes towards attaining emotional, intellectual, social, and economic independence, while simultaneously discussing the period's construction of femininity, the discourse of natural rights, the issue of education, romantic love, and sensibility. The introductory chapter describes the historical background and looks closely on the position of women in contemporary society in terms of their familiar and social status, economic dependence, education, character shaping, and their objectification of the marriage market. It also presents the view of women as depicted in conduct manuals and the works of the Jacobin (and also Anti-Jacobin) novelists. Finally, it introduces the novelists in question and elaborates on the influence of Mary Wollstonecraft's Vindication of the Rights of Women on the authors under analysis. The second chapter focuses its attention on the depiction of female independence in...
