Reclaiming traditions
Drevenáková, Natália ; Tamásová, Alexandra (referee) ; Klodová, Lenka (advisor)
The "Reclaiming Traditions" project is a comprehensive artistic endeavor that deals with the reinterpretation of Slovak tradition and its cultural elements, specifically the tradition of May 1st - Building the Maypole. This need arises from the personal experience of the author as a queer individual growing up in Slovakia, where queer beings do not have their legitimate place in public space. This transformation takes place within the realms of feminism, ecofeminism, and queer ecology. A part of the project involves the creation of monuments in public spaces, symbolizing a new approach to non-binary perception of nature and the importance of participation. The project evolves through several phases, from the creation of sculptural objects, tapestries, and outdoor installations to happenings. Each phase includes textile linen waste produced by the author during clothing design. This waste is utilized in various project phases (tapestries, hammocks, recycled residues in soil) and in the final thesis phase, as recycled yarn from recycled remnants of linen and wool for crocheting punching bags, representing circlusion. The inspiration for formal transformation is the neologism "CIRCLUSION" coined by German feminist and political writer Bini Adamczak, which is a female act against the male act of penetration. Circlusion (encirclement) denotes active surrounding. The project also reflects on questions of gender, sexual dominance, and ecological responsibility in the context of art in public space and community.
The Depiction of Gender in Terry Pratchett's Discworld
Mládek, Pavel ; Topolovská, Tereza (advisor) ; Ženíšek, Jakub (referee)
This work concerns itself with the Discworld series of the British fantasy author Terry Pratchett, and with how sex and gender are depicted in it. It mainly looks at the books Feet of Clay (1996), The Fifth Elephant (1999), Monstrous Regiment (2003), and Raising Steam (2013), which deal with these topics the most openly. It attempts to reveal whether the series presents more the view that sex and gender are tightly intertwined, or even that gender does not exist at all, so-called gender critical view, or whether gender and sex are more or less independent of each other and the characters in the series may present a gender different from the one assigned to them at birth. At the same time the work examines whether the depictions of gender evolve as the series go on or not.
Biometrie a kondice prasete divokého (Sus scrofa) s ohledem na vegetační stupňovitost
Procházková, Pavla
The content of this thesis is the evaluation of biometric data of wild boar (Sus scrofa L.) collected in 2014–2019 at sites throughout the Czech Republic. The data evaluation sought to relate the observed body parameters to forest vegetation stages. Emphasis was placed on the parameter of fat thickness as an indicator of body condition, and body parameters of weight after emergence, body length and chest height were also worked with. Differences in body parameters based on age, sex and forest vegetation stages were sought and statistical significance of these factors was tested. A weak correlation was found between some body parameters in the piglet category. Furthermore, fat thickness was found to be related to the sex of individuals older than 12 months. Fat thickness increased with age in females at all age classes while males reached their total fat height at the end of the first year of life. There was a strong correlation of body length parameter with weight and chest height of individuals.
Analýza masné užitkovosti vybraných plemen masného skotu
Ovčáček, Jindřich
The aim of the bachelor thesis was to analyse selected breeds for meat performance parameters in the Czech Republic. The analysed breeds Aberdeen angus, Hereford, Charolais and Meat Simmental were measured during the year for individual meat performance parameters such as birth weight, weight at 120 and 210 days, gain up to 120 days, gain up to 210 days, gain between 120 and 210 days, slaughter weight, average gain to age at slaughter, total gain and carcass. These results were then compared between breeds and the economics of breeding selected beef cattle breeds were also determined from these data. The result showed that breed has an effect on meat performance, with the Charolais and Meat Simmental breeds performing best and the Aberdeen Angus and Hereford breeds performing worst in the comparison between breeds. Sex within breed was also found to influence meat yield, with bulls of all breeds studied achieving higher meat yields than heifers.
Sexuálně rizikové chování u studentů středních škol
Koláček, Jakub
This bachelor's thesis deals with risky sexual behaviours among high school students. The main purpose of the thesis is to map this kind of behaviour, to describe the phenomena that can cause it, to name the types of sexually risky behaviour and their impact on a person and overall to bring this issue closer to the reader. The second part of the thesis deals with the actual research of sexually risky behaviour in high school students, using a questionnaire survey. The aim of this research is to find out what types of sexually risky behaviours occur among pupils and what is the motivation behind each behaviour.
Analysis of ponies bred for sports performance based on results in international dressage competitions
Havlíčková, Kristina
This thesis aimed to evaluate the performance of sports ponies at the international dressage level based on the following factors: sports season, age, sex and breed. The basis of the database was the dressage pony ranking of the International Equestrian Federation from 2014 to 2020. Two analyses were performed, one for the whole population and the second for the top 10% of ponies of each season. Statistically significant impact was found in the sports season (p ≤ 0.05) and high statistical significance in age and breed (p ≤ 0.01). Sex was the only factor with no statistical significance (p > 0.05). Ponies achieved the best average results in the year 2019 (983.72 points). On average, the best age categories were 9-12 (968.91 points) and 13-16 (968.90 points). Stallions were the best-performing sex (975.28 points). Ponies of Dutch Riding Horse and Pony Studbook (1 040.70 points) and Danish Sports Pony (1 039.50 points) achieved the best point results. Only the sports season and breed in the top 10% of ponies showed statistical significance (p ≤ 0.05). Ponies earned the highest number of points on average in the year 2020 (1 873.80 points). The best performance was given by ponies aged 17 and higher (1 899.00 points), although this category contained only two specimens. Stallions earned the highest number of performance points (1 842.70 points), and the best breed was the German Riding Pony (1 828.20 points).
Analýza současné situace a výkonnosti koní v soutěžích vytrvalosti v České republice a ve světě
Zelenková, Veronika
The aim of this study was to evaluate the current situation and the development of horses in endurance competitions in the Czech Republic and in the world using factors of age, sex, year of the competition and breed. The thesis was based on the databases of endurance rankings for years 2020, 2021 and 2022 published by the ČJF and FEI, which we subsequently processed statistically. A highly conclusive influence was discovered for the factors of year of the competition and age of the horses, breed factor was conclusive and sex factor was not conclusive. The best results were achieved by horses aged 15-17 years (71,68 points), the most successful are geldings (65,23 points) and the best performance is delivered by Arabian horse (73,51 %), which was also confirmed by subsequent testing using the Scheffe test. Horse performance increased slightly over the course of three years. Similar methodology was used to perform an analysis of the database of the endurance rankings by the ČJF. A highly conclusive influence was discovered only for the factor of year of the competition and factor of age was discovered conclusive, which can be attributed to the small population of endurance horses in the Czech Republic. The analysis of the endurance rankings by ČJF shows, that the best results are achieved by horses aged 9-11 years (158,57 points), the most successful are geldings (145,29 points) and the best performance is delivered by Arabian horse (171,98 points). Horse performance in Czech Republic increased conclusively over the course of three years.
