Zahrada a gýč
Franóová, Kristína
The dissertation focuses on the phenomenon of kitsch and its problematics. It describes and clarifies the meaning of the term. The paper tries to set a date on its birth, which is assumed to be the second half of the 19th century and presents the main topics. In order to understand what kitsch is, it is necessary to know which pieces of art are of value and what are the ideals of beauty. Because the dissertation applies the knowledge about kitsch into the field of landscape architecture, it outlines the perception of beauty of nature throughout history. Kitsch is created based on several factors which define what is and what is not kitsch. For a better comprehension of the problematic and finer imagination of what kitsch is, a pictorial section which displays various forms of kitsch is presented in the dissertation. The findings highlight the fact that some elements of kitsch can be used in landscape architecture, but only if it is designed with a certain amount of irony, adequacy and simplicity in mind. The theme of the design must be easily identifiable and must invoke an emotional response. Kitsch leeches on art and it is a coy imitation of it. An architectural blueprint based on detailed analysis of the area is also presented in the dissertation. The blueprint focuses on the inner courtyard, forming a park. The theme of the park revitalisation is ‘universe’, based on the UFO sculpture found on campus. New residential spaces for recreation and sport are created along with new path network, unified furniture and technical components.

This master's thesis, entitled "The origins of the theory of pure nature", seeks to understand how, in the 16th century, commentators on St Thomas Aquinas came to conceive of human nature as having a purely natural end rather than a supernatural one. This is known as the theory of pure nature. The aim of our work is to study, on the basis of the work of Father de Lubac, the ways in which they were led to develop such a theory. Our first part is devoted to Cajetan and his application to human nature of the principle of Aristotelian origin. Our second part concerns the heresy of Baius and the use of the potentia Dei absoluta. Our third part is devoted to the limbo theory and the question of natural beatitude.

This master's thesis analyses and compares selected documentary films, "Samsara" and "Before the Flood" which differ mainly in the way of thematization and construction of nature. The analysis is done using the dominant environmental aesthetic concepts - aesthetic engagement and cognitive aesthetics. With the help of an in-depth semiotic analysis, it is examined how the motifs of nature are presented in these different genres of documentary film, what film techniques and techniques are used for this and how this selection influences the perception and evaluation of the depicted nature. What makes this work unique is the connection between film art and environmental aesthetics. Ultimately, understanding how certain genre-conventional films depict nature can contribute to a better understanding of people's relationship with nature. Analysis has shown that the depiction of the aesthetic value of nature is different in both documents, with "Samsara" presenting nature in accordance with the aesthetic engagement, while "Before the Flood" is rather indifferent to the set environmental aesthetic theories. All other findings are found in the Analytical part of the document.
