The aim of this bachelor’s thesis is design of city development with purpose of revitalizing city of Kopřivnice. This moravian-silesian city is significant mostly from the point of automobile industry, however there is intention to create new background for young people and small businesses in the future. Kopřivnice’s problem with decreasing population is trying to be resolved by creating detached unit of one of the universities in Ostrava, which will lead to increased number of students. Creating background for students, graduates and young families along with options for starting small businesses would contribute to retention of these young people in city of Kopřivnice. The city has selected a location for development with this purpose and this thesis is aiming to check the potential of said location and to create a guide with subsequent design of specific building.

The bachelor thesis deals with the design of a building for a children‘s group. It is located in the perspective location of Házeňák, which is located near the center of Kopřivnice. It follows on from the assignment to design a set of buildings that will follow the function of student housing. When thinking about the cycle with the arrival of new students who can more easily settle in Kopřivnice and find or maintain a relationship with this city, it is related to the building of apartments, spaces for building businesses and increasing the capacity of kindergartens and nurseries. The study of spaces for the children‘s group reacts to the fragmented surrounding buildings and fits in with the height of the family houses. It gives the residents of Kopřivnice the opportunity to use other forms of pre-school education and fulfills one of the requirements of the strategic plan for increasing nursery capacity.

The bachelor thesis focuses on the analysis of a site known as Házeňák, located in the north of Kopřivnice. The site, originally used as a handball playground, is currently used as a temporary parking lot. The aim is to understand what possibilities this site offers for future use and how it could contribute to the development of Kopřivnice. This space with great potential now represents a new direction for the development of the city. The connection with the University opens the door for young people looking for inspiration, education and new opportunities. The starter flats are ready to offer young graduates a home and an opportunity to start their careers. This initiative creates a bridge between education and professional life, enabling young people to stay in the city and contribute to its prosperity.

In the previous semester, an urban study examined the possibilities in the area called Házeňák, in Kopřivnice. Subsequently, it specified development plans in the locality through a manual and an ideological solution. I chose a building in the south-eastern part of the Házeňák locality for processing. The longitudinal mass lines the busy class II road (Czechoslovak Army) and thus continues along the street line caused by residential and civic development towards the city centre. (Kadláčkova Street). The aim is to design adequate student housing

This diploma thesis is aimed at the strategic plan for new use of a plot owned by the town of Kopřivnice, which formerly accomodated exterior handball courts with adjacent facilities and a restaurant, the so-called “Házeňák”. The design follows up the pre-diploma project, which analyses the building theory of socialist urban planning, precisely regarding the zoned city and its influence on the form of the town Kopřivnice as well as the life of its inhabitants. The master planning of the choosen plot relies on the alternation of free urban space and buildings of adequate scale, which respects the existing restaurant building. The typology of the designed buildings combines administration, commercial ground floor and residential floors with the access to roof terraces. The detail of the choosen development strategy is demonstrated on the design of an apartment building which implements the “Baugruppe” construction model consisting of twelve model households. The individual requirements of these households are reflected in the separate layouts of the apartments. The materiality of this apartment building reacts to the observation of the surrounding development and an unmistakeable character of the town. The design of the facade also takes into account the individuality of the households and dynamically reacts to the life in the new neighborhood.

The subject of the thesis is the design of a residential building of the Baugruppe type. These are small-sized apartments that are affordable for young families as well as individuals. The conceptual design is based on the unconventional principle of maisonette apartments in our region. It aims to evoke the experience of living in a single family home, with significantly lower financial expenses associated with its maintenance. The thesis builds upon analyses and knowledge acquired in the pre-thesis work completed in the previous semester.

The master's thesis is a proposal for an urban-architectural study on the territory of the former handball court in Kopřivnica. The work is a continuation of the pre-master's thesis, in which I searched for and investigated the ideal form of housing in Kopřivnice. Corporate housing is a response to the problem of unaffordable housing and socio-economic conditions in the city. The search for the ideal of corporate housing resulted in the concept of low intensive development with the creation of spaces between buildings, flowing from public, through semi-public and semi-private to private. This idea creates spaces for spending time within the community and spaces for relaxation surrounded by edible plants. The proposal emphasizes the positive impact of housing on landowners. The transition from a busier environment to a more intimate one is also reflected in the design of the gallery 's apartment building, where the gallery is the place of frequent interaction with the neighbors. Private exterior space is represented by loggias equipped with sliding shading panels. In addition to shade and privacy, perforated panels also create the effect of a living facade, as their position changes depending on the time of day or season. The design of the apartment building is designed as a modular prefabricated construction. In the study, I present 14 modular apartments, from which the investor can construct an apartment building according to his own requirements.

The design of the urban and architectural study of the former handball field aims to serve as a potential solution to the issue of sustainable and affordable housing. The first part of the proposal focuses on the urban study of the former handball field in Kopřivnice. The area has transformed from a significant city locality into a parking lot over the past 20 years. The urban design responds to the adjacent Kopřivnička River and the proximity of the city center. The area thus becomes a gateway – into the city upstream along the Kopřivnička River, and out of the city toward nature. Among the aims of the proposal was to attract new residents to Kopřivnice, which led to the design of three buildings that reflect this need. The area includes a building with starter apartments, a women’s shelter for women and children who have been victims of domestic violence, and finally, a multifunctional building that supports the city’s economy while reflecting the needs of existing Kopřivnice residents. The second part of the proposal presents the architectural study of the women’s shelter. The concept and idea are based on reflections on in-depth interviews with social workers from various shelters. The building is designed to comply with legal regulations, the requirements of staff, and the safety of its residents. The design part of the urban and architectural study is based on insights gained from the theoretical and analytical parts.
