E-government and public administration reform in the Czech Republic
Klusáček, Petr
One of the main objectives of the current territorial public administration reform in the Czech Republic was approach of exercise of the public administration to the citizens. The paper deals with the issue whether the above-mentioned objective could not have been implemented more effectively - for example using e-government methods than creating new administrative centres. The first part of paper compares the state of e-governments’ implementation in the Czech Republic and in the other member states of the European Union. The second one attempts to analyse the possible reasons, why the implementation in the Czech Republic is slower in comparison with the majority of the other members of the EU.
Great Historical Floods in South Bohemia and their Impacts
Munzar, Jan ; Ondráček, Stanislav
The first plausible records about the occurrence of historical floods in South Bohemia originate from the 16th century (e.g. in June 1582). However, should we investigate about the last high water approximately comparable with the flood of 2002, we would arrive at the year 1890. This indicates that the contemporary event occurred after a time lapse of 112 years. The end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century saw an increased occurrence of great floods. In addition to year 1890, the most severe high waters occurred for example in 1880, 1897, 1903 etc. Following the great flood on the Vltava (Moldau) River in 1888, there were great floods or more important high waters in South Bohemia arriving in regular 2-year intervals in the period of the following eight years, i.e. in 1890, 1892, 1894 and 1896. The present period of the increased occurrence of great floods is therefore a certain analogy.
Multimedia Support in Education of „Geomorphology and Hydrology of the Czech Republic“
Dvořák, Petr
The contribution presents new way of teaching subjects of Geomorphology and Hydrology of the Czech Republic dedicated to university students. This way of teaching is valuable especially because of learning and extending basic geographical Grammar School knowledge. The students get to know specific geographical approaches, methods, techniques and skills. Emphasis is layed on perceiving land divergence, specifics including periodicity and natural relations of geographical phenomenon layout and geomorphological and hydrological process in the Czech Republic.
Sedimentary covers in the Bohutický les Upland area and their relation to the topography evolution
Roštínský, Pavel
The paper presents basic notes on geology and geomorphology of the Bohutický les Upland (South Moravia), an asymmetric horst situated in the contact area between the Bohemian Massif and Carpathian Foredeep. The distinct western scarp and some other striking morphological features of the elevation originated through the multi-phase alpine neotectonic transtensile reactivation of the important Diendorf Fault and associated dislocations in the Neogene and Quaternary. A complicated mosaic of solid Proterozoic/Palaeozoic bed-rocks, poorly consolidated Neogene clastics and Quaternary sediments developed in the area.
