Magnesium castings and their applications
Škriečková, Natália ; Kaňa, Václav (oponent) ; Pernica, Vítězslav (vedoucí práce)
This bachelor thesis is focused on summarizing the knowledge about magnesium and magnesium alloys and their use in various industries. In the introductory part, the beneficial properties of this metal, its alloys and methods of production are highlighted. The second part is focused on castings of these alloys, where we describe their preparation and the actual casting process in various ways. Based on previous research, we evaluate the development of the use of these alloys in various industries such as automotive, aerospace and electrical engineering, as well as modern use in medicine. Last but not least, we criticize the positives and negatives of the entire process of production of final parts in terms of environmental impact.
Modification of ceramic shells to increase its break up after casting process
Škriečková, Natália ; Horáček, Milan (oponent) ; Krutiš, Vladimír (vedoucí práce)
This master´s thesis deals with the problem of the disintegration of shell moulds after casting. Too high residual strength increases the cost of operations associated with the final cleaning of castings. The aim was to analyze the current state of the art and to optimize the production of moulds in MoraviaTech a.s. so that the removal of the ceramic shell after casting is easier. In the first part, a literature analysis of the influences that could have a positive effect on the speed of shell removal is made. In the practical part, experiments are conducted comparing the amount of shell removed as a function of time between modified ceramic shells and shells produced by the company. In the last part, the results of the individual measurements are evaluated and conclusions and recommendations for MoraviaTech a.s. are drawn from them.
