Bioindicators - their role in the evaluation of environment
Winklerová, Lucie ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (referee) ; Zlámalová Gargošová, Helena (advisor)
This thesis deals with the use of plant and animal bioindicators in an evaluation of the state of the environment. Bioindicators are divided in this work according to ecosystem for which they are used into bio indicators of terrestrial and of water ecosystem. Furthermore, they are divided according to groups of analytes, which are indicated by means of them. In the work the attention is paid to selected elements of risk, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and polychlorinated biphenyls. The presence of these xenobiotics in the environment is particularly influenced by human activities. First of all individual industrial and automobile transports are permanent sources of contamination of the ecosystem with these xenobiotics. Considerable influence on the ecosystem pollution with organic and inorganic contaminants had also an injudicious application of certain fertilizers in agricultural production. The importance of bioindication and bioindicators is big. They help us not only assess the presence of xenobiotic in the environment, the development of its occurrence and sources of pollution, but they are also necessary in the evaluation of its biological effect, and responses and mechanisms of the organism which are induced by it. Biomonitoring is now an essential part of environmental protection by reason of monitoring the presence and the transport of contaminants.
Utilization of organism Daphnia magna in ecotoxicity tests
Winklerová, Lucie ; Vávrová, Milada (referee) ; Zlámalová Gargošová, Helena (advisor)
This thesis deals with ecotoxicity tests of selected substances used in agriculture and horticulture. It is focused on the determination of acute and chronic toxicity of selected herbicides. These herbicides are sold commercially, specifically Finalsan (active substance is nonanoic acid), the product of Neudorff GmbH KG company, and Dominator (active substance is glyphosate, isopropylamine salt) by Dow AgroSciences Ltd. Next tested substances are potassium nitrate and sodium nitrate - common agricultural fertilizers. Potassium dichromate was also tested. Potassium dichromate is very toxic for aquatic environment and it is used as the standard in acute tests. Tests were carried out in terms of effects on aquatic systems, due to very good solubility in water of selected substances. The tests were performed on the organism Daphnia magna.
Chuchotage and its specifics
Winklerová, Lucie ; Mračková Vavroušová, Petra (advisor) ; Čeňková, Ivana (referee)
This theoretical-empirical diploma thesis deals with chuchotage, i.e. whispered interpreting. The analysis focuses on chuchotage without using equipment, however some aspects of whispered interpreting using the portable interpretation equipment are discussed and compared with simultaneous booth interpreting. In the theoretical part of the thesis, relevant research findings are summarized and an introduction to the selected problem field is provided. Subsequently, I name occasions on which this type of interpretation is usually applied and discuss advantages and disadvantages of it with respect to the interpreter himself, the client and other participants. This part also focuses on the working conditions during whispered interpreting (positioning of the interpreter, acoustic conditions, relation between the interpreter and other participants, personal needs of the interpreter and cognitive factors). The empirical part presents the actual research based on questionnaires that aims to describe the current situation on the interpretation market in the Czech Republic (usage extent of whispered interpreting, working conditions of the interpreter, comparison of whispered interpreting and simultaneous booth interpreting). This part deals also with the quality and mistakes made during the interpretation. As...
