Radiocarbon dating of organic residues may not always correctly determine the age of analysed historic mortars. Therefore, it seems advantageous to use of carbon dating of the carbon contained in the structure of the lime mortar, which will provide representative data of the age of the investigated structure. The methodology presents basic instructions and rules for sample selection, processing, and evaluation. The aim of this methodology is the identification of cases where the radiocarbon dating of a binder is appropriate and to define the reasons why some binder systems fail to provide relevant results.

Physico-Chemical Properties of Drugs
Tomanová, Pavla ; Kubíček, Vladimír (advisor) ; Nováková, Veronika (referee)
Charles University Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of biophysics and physical chemistry Author: Pavla Tomanová Supervisor: Ing. Vladimír Kubíček, CSc. Thesis title: Physico-Chemical properties of drugs This thesis deals with measuring dissociation constants (the pKa value) and the lipophilicity of nitrogenous heterocycle derivatives produced at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové. Two methods were used to determine the pK value: potentiometric titration and spectrophotometry. Potentiometric titration almost invariably produced relatively exact results, however the results of pK value obtained by spectrophotometry were sometimes difficult to replicate. Dissociation constants were compared on the basis of the method applied, and also with the theoretically determined dissociation constant calculated by means of the ChemDraw Ultra 12.0 software. The results obtained by the two experimental methods turned out to be very similar, corresponding to the theoretical pK value. Lipophilicity is another essential property of drugs tested in the preclinical stage. It specifies the aqueous or lipophilic phase affinity of a drug, substantially affecting the drug's ADMET in organism. Lipophilicity was determined on the basis of capacity factor value identified by RP-HPLC measurement using...

Cretaceous Foraminifera from the Březno section
Hašková, Barbora ; Holcová, Katarína (advisor) ; Tomanová, Pavla (referee)
Thesis is focused on foraminifera from classical Březno section. It describes the basic charakteristics of foraminifera, Czech Cretaceous Basin, Březno section near Louny and history of research of Cretaceous foraminifera in Czech Republic. Taxonomically studied planktonic foraminifera species are from family Heterohelicidae Cushman, 1927, and benthos species are from family Lagenidae Reuss, 1862, Nodosariidae Ehrenberg, 1838, and Vaginulinidae Reuss, 1860. Key words: Foraminifera, Cretaceous, Březno near Louny, Heterohelicidae, Lagenidae, Nodosariidae, Vaginulinidae
Kouřim - St. Georg Přemyslid Administrative Centre and Archaeology of the Early Medieval Central Places (Strategies and Methods)
Tomanová, Pavla ; Klír, Tomáš (advisor) ; Procházka, Rudolf (referee)
The presented master thesis deals with the archaeology of early medieval central places. It is based on a research example of the former Přemyslid administrative stronghold of the Kouřim-st. Georg that is a model site, which is traditionaly put in the intensive scientific interests. The core of this thesis is the assesment and interpretation of the contemporary systematic research involving a combined use of several surface prospections. Possibilities, limits and contributions of such a research are investigated and compared with the aspects of traditional archaeological excavation. Within the research process, the endeavor after some methodical development and maximum utilisation of the information potencial of those data obtained by field walking was made. At the end of the thesis, the enhenced conception of the investigated site is set into some selected general models of the character and structure of early medieval central places and some targets for future research are propound. Key-words: Kouřim-st. Georg - archaeology of central places - non-destructive archaeology - the Early Middle Ages - ceramic analyses
The acropolis of the hillfort in Libice on Cidlina, its character, structure and dating
Tomanová, Pavla ; Sláma, Jiří (advisor) ; Štefan, Ivo (referee)
The B.A. thesis deals with the issue of settlement development on the acropolis of the Early Medieval hillfort at Libice nad Cidlinou. Main part of the work consists of analysis and evaluation of the "trench S" that was excavated in the year 1950, and whose results have not yet been analyzed in detail. Essential part of this work is dedicated to analysis of the colection of finds and to methodology of processing the data obtained during this old archaeological excavations. On the basis of the analysis results, taking the latest results of non-destructive research into consideration, this thesis opens discusion regarding the theories of Rudolf Turek concerning the settlement development of the acropolis. So far, Turek's theories have not been discussed in detail. In its close, this B.A. thesis is supplemented with comparative overview of settlement areals and their forms attested both on Czech- and Great Moravian hillforts that share similar characteristics with the hilfort at Libice nad Cidlinou.
