Developing potentials of art education in integration with second language acquisition

This thesis discuses the disposition of Visual Arts Education to be integrated with Second Language Acquisition on the first grade of elementary education. It focuses on the modernistic assumption that there is a special language which concerns the arts. The first part of this work is devoted to the roots of this proposition. First, we talk about the roots of artistic moderna and Visual Arts Education. It discusses both the reflected and non-reflected premises of the first school of design, Bauhaus. It presents the relatedness of the art created on Bauhaus and the theories developed in Vienna Circle, both historically and with respect to the content subject. It is clear, that in the twenties and thirties, the discussions about the nature of the language were crucial to the avant-garde thinking, in arts as well as in science. This chapter discuses the critical theory in respect to the language and it presents the role of this motive in contemporary theory, with focus on arts and education.
