The Politics of Marijuana Legalisation in a Comparative Perspective

This work focus on the issue of potential legalisation of marijuana for recreational use in Czech Republic in comparison with different experiences from two, foreign states of the European Union - Netherlands and Spain. The work begins with a description of a historical context of cannabis use that is subsequently followed by historic and actual state of legislation in Czech Republic. The chapter regarding the situation in Czech Republic is furthermore composed of different opinions of relevant political parties, experts and public opinion polls. The second part is addressing the historical process and actual state of legalisation in Netherlands and Spain that is afterwards also accompanied by the opinions of political parties, experts and public opinion polls, which are focused on actual problems considering the specific type of legalisation in both countries. This chapter is followed-up by a comparison of the Spanish and Dutch model of legalisation and by general summarization of different political and expert opinions across the chosen countries accompanied by the information from the public opinion polls. Syrian Civil War In Regional Security Perspective

This work focusses on the issue of the Syrian civil war within the perspective of the Regional Security Complex theory. The work begins with a theoretical conceptualization of the Regional Security Complex theory. Afterwards, the theoretical conceptualization of the Borderscapes concepts is also provided with an aim to also mention the historical relevance of this concept for the Middle East region. Subsequently, the perception of the Middle East security complex as understood by B. Buzan and O. Waever is provided in order to challenge their perception in the next part of this work. Within this chapter, the relevance of the chosen actors is assessed with both theoretical approaches and subsequently, the traditional perception of the Middle East security complex is put to test based upon the used theoretical conceptualization and concrete information regarding the actors. The successful re-adjustment of the Regional Security Complex theory within the Middle East region is afterwards supported by the empirical description of motives and strategies of all thirteen important actors involved in the Syrian conflict. Finally, a conclusion about the potential benefits and future usage of this work is stated.
