Title: The social status of physical education teachers Objectives: The aim of this diploma thesis was to map the profession of physical education teacher, specifically the importance, content and complexity of it. Further to describe what can affect the perception of the social status of a physical education teacher from the perspective of physical education teachers themselves and from the perspective of their colleagues from the teaching staff who do not teach physical education. Last but not least, the aim of this work was to suggest, based on the statements, what could positively affect the social status of physical education teachers in the future. Methods: The main method of data acquisition was a semi-structured interview. Qualitative research was conducted using grounded theory. We used Atlas.ti qualitative research software for evaluation and subsequent data processing. Results: The question of social status of physical education teachers is very complex and the perception of a physical education teacher and his social status in schools differs depending on a number of factors. It is significantly influenced by the approach of the physical education teacher himself, the approach of the school principal and the position of the subject itself.
