Kružíková, Kateřina ; Jirků, Jan (advisor) ; Čeňková, Jana (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to analyze the written form of New Year's and Christmas speeches of the three presidents of the Czech Republic, i.e., Václav Havel (speeches from years 1994- 2003), Václav Klaus (speeches from years 2004-2013) and Miloš Zeman (speeches from years 2013-2021). The thesis will set the speeches in the context of the lives of the presidents, analyze them from a linguistic, semiotic, and content perspective, and will compare them with each other. The thesis will focus on the topics the presidents raise, as well as potential elements of influencing public opinion. In the framework of the analysis, the thesis will consider the response of the media to the speeches. The aim of the thesis is on one hand to determine how the personalities and life experiences of statesmen influence the creation of their speeches, and on the other to contribute to a deeper understanding of the presidential office and to explore its evolution throughout the thirty years of the existence of the independent Czech Republic.
Language construction, composition and narrative perspective in selected prose works by Zdena Salivarová
Kružíková, Kateřina ; Špirit, Michael (advisor) ; Holý, Jiří (referee)
This bachelor thesis provides an analysis of several selected prose works by Zdena Salivarová - the novel Honzlová, first published in 1972, and short stories from the anthology Nebe, peklo, ráj, first published in 1991. As this thesis proposes to show, all these prose works manifest considerable similarities, on the basis of which we can perceive them as a unity. In the three chapters that deal with the language construction, composition and narrative perspective of the texts we examine what features they have in common as well as dissimilarities between them in order to reveal in detail how the texts are constructed. The analysis draws on relevant academic literature in the field of literary studies and narratology (e.g. Hodrová, Stanzel) and studies or reviews that interpret Salivarová's particular works (e.g. Kosková, Lederbuchová, Suchomel). Keywords Zdena Salivarová, Honzlová, Nebe, peklo, ráj, language construction, composition, narrative perspective

The source material - songs from Erben's collection Prostonárodní české písně a říkadla - will be examined with the theoretical and methodological basis of contemporary cultural linguistics, especially the Czech and Polish (especially using the theories of the Lublin School of Cognitive Ethnolinguistics). During the reconstruction of the linguistic picture of beer, this work also uses material from the Czech dictionaries (monolingual, phraseological etc.). In this context, it will also take into account the literature devoted to the cultural picture of beer in Czech society (especially the work of Č. Zíbrt and selected articles from the interdisciplinary monograph edited by V. Novotný) and show how much the researched material is in accordance with it. The first part of the work will introduce the research context and the terms used (especially in the field of cognitive ethnolinguistics and verbal folklore), the second part will focus on the picture of beer in Czech dictionary material and in the third part will analyse and interpret material obtained from...
