The theatre Romathan (along the paths of Romany theatre: from Indian origins to the theatre Romathan)
Kočí, Julie ; Stehlíková, Eva (advisor) ; Christov, Petr (referee)
My thesis presents a concise outline of the development of Romany dramatic and theatre culture from its Indian origins to the Slovak oiginated Theatre Romathan, which represents the actual artistic and intellectual development peak. Further on, the work deals with the crucial developmental tendencies of the artistic production within the Theatre Romathan. It also highlights the importance of the Theatre Romathan in the European context. ln the first part of my thesis I briefly point out the development of Romany theatre, drama, and theatricality in genera\. My main argument is that Romany theatricality stems from three different sources. Firstly, the roots of Romany theatricality are to be found in Doms musicians' performances in ancient India. Secondly, one has to look for the roots in the competition of Romany performers with the non-Romany artistic production of medieval mimes, histriones, ioculatores and musicians. And finally, the source of the theatricality lies in the Romany folk culture, which is manifested in songs, stories, musical and musical-dramatic performances, ceremonies, and rituals. ln the second part of my work I analyse the beginnings and the development of Romany theatre wthin the territory of former Czechoslovakia. I argue that the very beginning of Romany theatre is connected with the...
The Dramaturgy of the National Theatre Ballet in Seasons 2002 - 2011
Jílková, Eliška ; Christov, Petr (advisor) ; Kočí, Julie (referee)
Eliška Jílková Abstract The aim of the thesis work is to map characteristics and evolution trend of ballet dramaturgy in the National Theater during the season 2002/2003 - 2010/2011. To cover complexity of the topic, the text is broadened out by characteristics of all National Theater stages and the dramaturgy is specified with respect to the previous season. The text offers several views on repertory changes. Besides the methods of titlesselection it also points out external and internal conditions of this process. The thesis also roughly characterizes dramaturgy from previous season when the National Theater ballet was directed by Vlastimil Harapes. For clarity the work is divided by the nationality of authors. One chapter is solely devoted to guest ensembles whose staging have limited influence on the whole repertory appearance. The conclusion summarizes the findings about the evolution and present-day dramaturgy of the ballet. The thesis is finished with description of the most important and distinctive elements of the new dramaturgy concept. Dramatizations of Larger Epic Pieces Designed for a Child Actor
Hrnečková, Anna ; Pšenička, Martin (advisor) ; Kočí, Julie (referee)
This thesis analyses the dramatizations of larger epic units, which have appeared on the Czech national (or regional) shows of children's theatre since 1989. After characterizing the role of dramatic text created for the theatre played by children, the work attempts to establish the evaluation criteria for the dramatization of the investigated area. With regard to the artistic and educational objectives, the work compares the composition, language and thematic basis of selected texts. At the centre of attention are those means of adaptation which acquire particular significance especially in connection with a child actor; ways of creating adult characters, the depiction of the inner world of children's heroes etc. The main task of this text analysis is to answer the question about how far the authors were able to get within the narrow borders brought on by focusing on child actors up to fifteen years of age.
