Role informačních a komunikačních technologií (IKT) v zemědělském sektoru Kambodži
The role of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT in agricultural sector of Bosnia and Herzegovina)
Franěk, Václav ; Kandakov, Alexander (advisor) ; Hes, Tomáš (referee)
Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the poorest countries in Europe. Agriculture was in the 1990s as well as the whole country devastated by war conflict and needed the necessary transformation. Information and communication technologies (ICT) can help with faster development of agriculture in rural areas of the country, improving the competitiveness of small farmers, on which stands the whole agriculture of Bosnia and Herzegovina and, ultimately, improving its competitiveness in the international market. The aim of my thesis was deeper search analysis of literary sources in the context of the use of information and communication technologies in the agricultural sector of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Using information and communication technologies in agriculture may be then justified by the increasing consumption of food or expanding coverage for mobile phones and expansion of the Internet connection. However, Internet penetration in rural areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which stand on agriculture, is not on high level. But the actions of the government and local authorities are gradually moving towards rural development by using information and communication technologies, for example by introducing faster 3G Internet. Small farmers are also the most vulnerable to changes of food prices, in which can be information and communication technologies also helpful. The most important recommendation and conclusion would be using rather mobile devices instead of desktop computers or laptops.
The impact of gender inequality on information exchange: a case study of East Akim district in the Eastern region of Ghana
Acheampong, Edwin Boateng ; Kandakov, Alexander (advisor) ; Anna, Anna (referee)
This thesis was focused on estimating the influence that farmers income, size of farm, education level and gender has on accessing adequate information in rural communities. The thesis also found out about the information needs of farmers, types of information resources and services available to farmers, their knowledge of information resources and services, level of satisfaction on information available to them as well as the incidence of gender inequality in information transfer. Research was conducted in East Akim district in the Eastern region of Ghana. A categorical binary logistic model in SPSS was used to determine the significance and impact of farmers income, size of farm, education level and gender on adequate information access. Farmers income was the only variable that had a real major positive impact on accessing adequate information, therefore contributing to the probability that the richer the farmer the easier to access adequate information. Size of farm and education level of farmers did not have a real impact on accessing adequate information. Male farmers had a 0.173 times chance more than female farmers in accessing adequate information but do not reflect much on their income. Gender inequality seemed not to be a problem which will prevent farmers especially women to access adequate information.

Moldova is considered the poorest country in the European continent. The most important sector of the national economy in Moldova is still agricultural sector. 75 % of the population of Moldova live in rural areas and their livelihood depends on agriculture. Because of these reasons, with the entrance of Romania into the European Union, Moldova became a neighboring countrz and EU countries get more interested in international cooperation with Moldova. Through developing the quality of higher agricultural education in Moldova the improvement of unfavorable situation of Moldavian agriculture could be reached. Thanks to transfers of knowledge, know-how and better preparation of agricultural experts can be significantly improved the competitiveness of country's agriculture within european market. In Republic of Moldova were held projects dealing with development of education. This work analyze the improvement of the quality of the educational process at State Agrarian University in Chisinau. The research of thesis was aimed to teachers of university, who passed courses of pedagogical qualification. The results show that Czech courses lacked direct stays in the Czech agricultural universities and other agricultural institutions and more practical lessons rather than theoretical were needed. Neverthless, profesors consider Czech courses of pedagogical qualification in the framework of implemented Czech projects as very beneficial and effective and their realiazation should continue at SAUM.

Kyrgyzstan also from the states of Central Asia receives the largest amount of ODA per capita. The thesis analyzes the individual donors, duration of cooperation and the amount of ODA that Kyrgyzstan receives annually from these donors. Based on the method of regression analysis, this thesis determined the expected increase in the amount of financial resources within the ODA in the next two years. This bachelor thesis also analyzed the priority sectors of cooperation for individual donors and identified the most preferred areas, supported by ODA, which are infrastructure and social services, economic infrastructure and services, health and education. In addition, it focused on the critical year 2010, in which it held a political coup, after which occurred the democratization process and the introduction into the parliamentary form of government. This bachelor thesis monitors the changes of the character of ODA after this year and the response of donors to the aforementioned events, including the subsequent ethnic riots in the south of the country. Based on the collected data and graphics, the increase in the amount of ODA for Kyrgyzstan was recorded after 2010 and the response in the form of projects aimed at the reconstruction of the affected areas.
Analysis of market parameters of groundnuts in Mazowe district, Zimbabwe
Mbangani, Donald ; Kandakov, Alexander (advisor) ; Tomáš, Tomáš (referee)
Groundnut has been grown for many decades by small scale rural farmers in Zimbabwe as a means to boost their income. Production has been declining since the turn of the millennium due to many reasons which includes among others, having unsustained markets which has seen the country importing from neighbouring countries. The aim of the study was to investigate the availability and accessibility of groundnut markets in addition to analysing the factors influencing rural farmers marketing decisions with particular emphasis on prices. Literature sources and previous research suggested that women take a leading role in the marketing of groundnuts and market prices are highly seasonal. To fulfil the aims of the thesis, a cross-sectional survey was conducted in Mazowe district. A questionnaire was administered to 100 respondents from 10 randomly selected wards in the district. Key informant interviews and focus group discussions were also conducted to triangulate the findings from the main survey. Data capturing was done using SPSS version 20 and the analysis was done using MS Excel. Data was analysed using descriptive statistics, Friedman rank test and time series analysis. A Likert scaling technique was used to rate farmers perception on factors affecting price of groundnuts on the markets. Findings from the research indicated that groundnut markets are available in Mazowe district though the more lucrative ones are less readily accessible for rural farmers. Time series analysis of prices revealed that they are seasonal with the highest prices in April and lowest in July. The study concluded that three marketing channels are available in the study area and women play a significant role in groundnut marketing even though various constraints to marketing were cited.
