The thesis discourses on the French region Languedoc-Roussillon situated in south of the country. The first part is focused on the region itself and defines its characteristics. Afterwards, other specifications of the local tourist trade and most attractive places are described. The very main part of the thesis is based on cultural anthropology, aiming at disclosing those distinctions, which make Languedoc-Roussillon so special.
French Regions: Picardie and Nord-Pas-de-Calais

Diploma thesis aims to present the two French regions: Picardie and Nord-Pas-de-Calais. The thesis consists of two main parts, theoretical and practical. The first, theoretical part, systematically describes the two regions, begins with geographical data, followed by history and economics and ends with the mostextensive chapter of cultural anthropology. The second, practical part, uses information from the first part and creates a didactic guide for teachers, whereas follows the same sequence of chapters as the theoretical part. Particular chapters about geography, history, economics and cultural anthropology include various exercises and activities that shall enrich the teaching of French language about the realities of Northern France.
World language French a its current importance in the European Union

The thesis represents the position of French language on international scene, its role in the formation of patriotism of French nation and its development within the European Union. This thesis is concerned with the reasons which raised French language to an international and diplomatic language and which led to the weakening of its influence in the world. The thesis analyzes the language policy of France and institutions supporting the francophonie which care for protection and maintenance of French in the European and worldwide bases. Not least, there is outlined the importance of French language in the process of European integration and its current mission in the institutions of European Union.
Literary awards in France

Title of the thesis: Literary awards in France Keywords: Literary award, laureate, literary work, literary award jury, granting literary award, prose, poetry. Abstract: The thesis is focused on the most remarkable French literary awards. Discourse about particular literary awards is divided into two main chapters according to their correspondence to prose or poetry. Within these main chapters the referred awards are sorted in time consequence according to the date of origination. Furthermore the thesis deals with laureates of awards, whose pieces were translated into the Czech language and published thanks to the financial funding of Program for support of publishing activity "František Xaver Šalda" at French embassy at Prague. The aim of this project is to achieve the recherche and form the coherent text dealing with French literary awards which are one of the most important domains of French and in general of francophone culture.
French colonists in Southern Moravia

The village of Čejč lies in the south-east of Moravia. The village disappeared in the 15lh century, but it was refounded in the end of the 18lh century. The new inhabitants were French colonists arriving mainly from Franche-Comté and Lorraine. This thesis makes clear the circumstances of colonisation and searches for the "French heritage".
Textual interpretation of the Song of Roland

This MA thesis deals with the text analysis of the Song of Roland. The text analysis focuses in detail on the formal, content, narrative and symbolic aspects of the Song of Roland. All those features are in the context of the literary and historical frame. The Song of Roland is one of the oldest literary pieces of French literature. It is the most famous heroic song belonging to the "Chanson de geste" and it was created in the 11th century. The main characters of the heroic poem are Charles the great, his nephew Roland, loyal friend Olivier, traitor Galeon and pagan king Marsil. The Song of Roland explores not only the family and friend relations, but the important topics are also betrayal and desire for fortune and glory. The Song deals with the matter of faith being asserted in the way which is typical for the middle ages. The story, which takes part in Spain, where the French have been besieging the pagan fort of Zaragoza for seven years, is very interesting from the historical aspects, but were more interested in the narrative - textual aspects, in which we tried to explore the relationships between the narrators.
