Comparison of the options and financial demands of a regular diet with gluten-free diet
Kosíková, Monika ; Starnovská, Tamara (advisor) ; Floriánková, Marcela (referee)
In the Czech Republic, 50 000 people are diagnosed with Celiac disease and the only known treatment for it is a gluten-free diet. For such patients, gluten consumption can provoke inflammation of a small bowel that can result in heavy consequences. Gluten is a protein contained in wheat, rye, barley, and oats and plays an important role in food production, because of its properties. Bakery and other gluten-free products are produced from other types of cereals. They also require a special technological process, separate spaces, and have a much smaller target group of consumers, which can increase their price at the end. People following a gluten- free diet have to be very careful while eating in restaurants and canteens because even a small amount of gluten can harm their health. Health insurance companies in the Czech Republic contribute various amounts to the GFD, however, mostly only for children. The goal of the research was to find out whether and for how much gluten-free food is more expensive than the ordinary one; and how the availability of gluten-free products and meals is assessed by people who have to eliminate gluten due to health reasons. To achieve the goal, quantitative research with a questionnaire survey was used. The questionnaire with 17 questions was filled in by a hundred...
Nutrition of seniors outside institutional facilities
KOSÍKOVÁ, Monika
Nutrition stays an integral part of life even in old age. The aim of this thesis was to find out what eating habits seniors have in their home environment. The theoretical part of the thesis sums up physiological changes in old age, correct eating recommendations, and it also contains a brief description of chosen diseases. A qualitative research has been chosen for the purpose of this bachelor thesis, eight seniors aged 65 to 75 were addressed in autumn. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with the respondents, consisting of questions about housing, health condition, and nutrition. At the same time, seniors were noting down their weekly eating plans. The practical part at first mentions information provided by the interviews, and calculations of basic eating plan nutrients obtained from the ´Nutriservis Professional´ programme. Individual nutrient intakes were compared to the current recommendations for old age nutrition. Based on the research it was found out that the interviewed seniors lacked knowledge about healthy eating. Seniors have irregular drinking mode, they consume little vegetables, fruits, wholegrain cereals, dairy products, legumes, and fish. They prefer meat, sausages, and white flour products. All seniors had their eating divided into several daily portions, and nobody left out breakfast. Research results may be used in organizations that take care of seniors to improve care, or may serve their relatives, or even seniors themselves to improve their knowledge in the area of proper eating at a higher age.

Kosíková, Monika ; Kebza, Vladimír (advisor) ; Höfrová, Alena (referee)
The final work of my bachelor's degree Psychological and social aspects of unemployment is primarily focused on the Benešov region. There are defined the basic terms in the theoretical part, which are used futher in the other parts of the work. The terms are not defined only in the economic point of view but the emphasis is on psychological aspects of loosing the job. Another way of definition is the social point of view and it describes the impact of unemployment on family and friends of the unemployed. The theoretical part is further given to a calculation of unemployment and to the forms of unemployment. Last but not least there are defined the risk groups of people in the theoretical part, who are put in danger the most by loosing and finding new job the most. The main aim of my work is to compare the evolution of total unemployment in the Benešov region with the other regions of the Central Bohemian Region and to characterize the structure of the unemployed in 2015. The last part is focused on processing the questionnaire in the employment office in Benešov.
