Zemenčíková, Karolína ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Junová, Magdalena (referee)
The subject of the Bachelor thesis are the life fates of Otto Šling and his family. In the beginning the interpretation of Šling's life is centered on his motives to organise the propagandistic action "The Youth lead Brno". While in the observation period between May 1st, 1949 and June 2nd, 1949 the action was publicly supported, after Šling's arrest in October of the following year on the contrary it was condemned by the communist functionaries. Based on concrete medial announcements and accessible professional literature changes of the moods of the society are presented that took place in dependence on the fabrication of the political trials in the fifties of the last century. This fact is closely specified in the third part of the thesis which concerns itself with the role of Otto Šling in the Trial of anti-state conspiracy centered around Rudolf Slánský and his impact on the lives of Šling's closest relatives.
The image of the journalist during the period 1918-1938
Junová, Magdalena ; Köpplová, Barbara (advisor) ; Knapík, Jiří (referee)
This thesis examines the image of the journalist that is based on a particular text corpus - on articles collected in newspaper clipping archive of Czechoslovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the period of "the first Czechoslovak republic." The method of this paper is inspired by Stanley Fish's concept of interpretive communities - in this case the interpretive community consists of the authors of the articles mentioned above. As they design the image of their own profession, it becomes a tool for understanding journalist's identity - it defines what is appropriate and what is not. The self-portrait of journalist does not only include a paragon of virtue that is to be followed but also a set of attributes, which journalists find typical for themselves: interestingly the main attributes do not seem to change much over time and in different newspapers. Therefore, the thesis focuses on common and shared traits of this self-portrait, illustrated by particular examples from the articles. The most important traits are for instance the consciousness of journalist's power and need for responsibility, but also journalist's attitude to truth, independence, time and society. The conception of religion in texts of Czech-jewish movement representatives
Junová, Magdalena ; Lyčka, Milan (advisor) ; Čapková, Kateřina (referee)
This thesis deals with the conception of religion in texts written by the representatives of the Czech- jewish movement in the period of the first Czechoslovak republic. By analysing the literary, theoretical and journalistic texts I compose the image of religion that was received by the readers of Czech-jewish periodicals, calendars and books. This image is as manifold as the genres of the scrutinized texts are: There are contemplations on religion, nostalgic and humorous literary scenes from religious life and essays on pressing political and cultural aspects of religious question. The authors, excepting Rabbi Richard Feder, are laymen, who discuss religious question with regard to common sense and humanist ideals. Traditional Judaism belongs usually to the nostalgic memories. The main image of the ideal and universal religion, which emanates from the studied material, consists of the immediate and natural relationship of man to God and mainly of the unflagging humanity, understood as a religious value.
