The publisher and bookseller Jakob B. Brandeis
Hokrová, Kamila ; Sládek, Pavel (advisor) ; Sixtová, Olga (referee)
The diploma thesis aims to introduce the Prague Jewish bookseller and publisher Jakob B. Brandeis (1835-1912) and describe his publishing strategies. Brandeis founded his publishing house in 1880, subsequently establishing a branch in Breslau (present-day Wrocław) in 1899. The key part of the diploma thesis is the catalogue of publications, which provides insights into the types of books published by the publishing house, as well as their intended readers. A significant portion of our catalogue comprises the book edition of the Jüdische Universal- Bibliothek, which was both affordable and diverse, featuring publications from both prominent and lesser-known Jewish authors. In addition, Brandeis published the Brandeisʼ illustrirter israelitischer Volkskalender, to which he also contributed. He thus continued the tradition of publishing calendars, a practice initially established by his father-in-law Wolf Pascheles, who was also a Jewish bookseller and publisher.
Prague Rabbis in the Late 19th and Early 20th Centuries: On the Nature of the Prague Rabbinate
Hokrová, Kamila ; Sládek, Pavel (advisor) ; Žonca, Milan (referee)
The bachelor thesis focuses on individual rabbis acting in Prague between the years of 1870 and 1938. This period outstands as crucial for development of Jewish society mainly because of the many changes that took place, such as demographic, linguistic and political. The year 1881 was especially significant due to the closure of rabbi Aaron Kornfeldʼs yeshivah in Golčův Jeníkov which was the last traditional yeshivah in Bohemia. The rabbis who came to Prague in the following years also received their education in the traditional yeshivas, yet after their arrival they were usually confronted with modernization trends. One of the main points of the thesis is the summary of biographies of individual rabbis, which includes but is not limited to their work, religious origin as well as depiction of the movements of Judaism they represented. The thesis could be seen as an introductory point to description of rabbis from Prague Jewish community and their religious existence.

Hokrová, Kamila ; Koldinská, Kristina (advisor) ; Štefko, Martin (referee)
The purpose of my thesis called Employment of EU Citizens in Spain and in the Czech Republic is to describe and analyze the legislation regarding employment of EU citizens in Spain and to compare it with the legislation in the Czech Republic. In relation to the selected topic I also briefly analyze the current situation at Spanish labour market after it has been severely influenced by the global economic crisis. The reason for my research is the fact that I consider migration within the EU a very actual topic and a dynamic field which keeps continuously developing. As the topic is considerably vast, I preferred to focus only on the selected countries. The thesis is composed of four chapters, each of them dealing with different aspects of employment in Spain and related issues. Chapter One is introductory and defines basic terminology used in the thesis. It provides explanation of the basic principles the employment in EU is based on. The chapter is subdivided into three parts. Part One describes the basic terms and explains them in the context of the topic of my thesis. Part Two deals with the principle of free movement of persons within the EU and Part Three briefly describes the EU's social policy and its policy of employment. Chapter Two examines the current situation at the Spanish labour...
