Adaptation of children with a different first language and their needs when starting primary

The topic of the bachelor thesis is the adaptation of children with a different first language when entering a primary school. The thesis is divided into two parts. In theoretical part, the factors affecting children with a different first language, the function of the school and the process of socialization are elaborated. The thesis focuses on the social dynamics in the classroom, teacher's role within the classroom and classroom meetings. It also seeks to define the meaning of the term of a child with a different first language and respective legislation. At the end of the theoretical part, the school adaptation process of children with the different first language as well as specific aspects affecting adaptation process accentuating the needs of children are described. The empirical part represents the results of qualitative research focusing on the practice of primary school teachers directed towards children with a different first language. The first aim of the thesis was to explore the teachers practice in developing positive classroom climate/environment with the active involvement of children with a different first language.
