Use of myofunctional therapy in the speech therapy in preschool children

The topic of this bachelor thesis is the use of myofunctional therapy in speech therapy intervention in preschool children. The bachelor thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part of the thesis consists of three main chapters. The first chapter deals with the ontogenetic development of speech, language, and communication. The chapter introduces both the pre-speech stages of speech development and the stages of speech development, the linguistic planes are discussed in detail in terms of speech ontogeny. In the second chapter, we define impaired communicative competence and present its classification in terms of symptomatology and etiology. The chapter includes the most common types of disorders of speech development in children for whom we encounter the use of elements of myofunctional therapy. Special attention is paid to myofunctional disorders. The third chapter introduces diagnosis and techniques and the use of myofunctional therapy in speech therapy intervention. The bachelor thesis focuses on speech therapy, specifically on the development of communication skills in children with developmental language disorders. The theoretical part includes two chapters. The first chapter deals with the theoretical background and then the developmental language disorder itself. The theoretical background defines communication, speech, and language, and describes the development of speech, language, and communication, as well as impaired communication skills. The etiological classification of impaired communicative ability is also briefly mentioned. The topic of the bachelor thesis is a young adult with stuttering. The bachelor thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical parts. The theoretical part contains three chapters. The theoretical background of the thesis was prepared by a research of Czech and foreign literature and electronic information sources. The first chapter defines stuttering, then describes the etiology, symptomatology and classification of stuttering. In the second chapter attention is paid to speech therapy intervention in stuttering. Speech diagnostics of stuttering and speech therapy for stuttering are described in more detail in two subchapters. The third theoretical chapter presents current research on stuttering in adults. The bachelor thesis deals with the support of children with developmental language disorder in preschool education. The thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical parts. The first chapter introduces the theoretical background, it describes the development of speech, language and communication and clarifies these terms. This chapter then focuses on developmental language disorder, its terminology, classification, etiology, symptomatology, diagnosis and therapy. The second chapter discusses the preschool education system, legislation, the goals of early preschool education, and support options. Counseling facilities and support measures are defined and described, with particular attention to the concepts of the individual education plan and the teaching assistant. The topic of this bachelor thesis is the possibilities of development of partial functions in children with developmental language disorder in preschool age. The thesis is structured in four chapters, three theoretical and one practical. The first chapter is devoted to the description of the preschool child and is divided into subchapters that introduce ontogenetic speech development, impaired communication skills and school maturity. The diploma thesis is elaborated on the speech therapy topic, the specifics of speech therapy intervention for people suffering from Huntington's disease. It consists of a theoretical part, in which, within three chapters, the reader is gradually introduced to the diagnosis of Huntington's disease and general knowledge about the history and etiology of the disease, the occurring symptoms and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The second chapter discusses impaired communication skills in people with Huntington's disease. Summarizes findings on cognitive-communication disorders, dysarthria and dysphagia. The third chapter deals with findings about speech therapy intervention itself for the clients in question. The thesis focuses on the specifics of speech therapy intervention in adults after stroke in the acute and subacute phase of the disease. The thesis is divided into two main parts, namely the theoretical part and the empirical part. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the concept of stroke and summarizes the knowledge in the field of etiology, symptomatology, diagnosis and prevention. It also defines the individual communication disorders associated with stroke (i.e. aphasia, dysarthria, dyspraxia, dysphagia and cognitive-communication disorders), their classification, aetiology, symptomatology, diagnosis and therapy. The empirical part of the thesis is focused on a qualitative research investigation, the main aim of which is to identify and describe the specifics of speech therapy intervention in people after stroke in the acute and subacute phase of the disease, when the patient is hospitalized in a hospital. Phonemic awareness in children with Down syndrome

Phonetic-phonological ability is one of the components that is purposefully developed during speech therapy intervention. This ability is very important for the development of reading and writing in the early stages of literacy acquisition. In particular, emphasis is placed on phonemic awareness, which is related to the perception of the phoneme structure of words, phonetic analysis and synthesis etc. For the targeted development of phonemic awareness, a structured methodology of Language skills training according to D. B. Elkonin was created. The diploma thesis examines the possibility of developing phonemic awareness in children with Down syndrome in the case of using Language Skills Training according to D. B. Elkonin. The practically conceived part presents the results of a qualitative research investigation. Participant observation was the method of data collection, and a non-standardized pre-made test of phonemic awareness was used to assess the level of phonemic awareness, based on the test of the authors of the Elkonin methodology and the Preschool Skills Diagnostic by Bednářová and Šmardová (2015).
