Employers' Attitudes to Older Workers

The thesis aims to analyze employers' attitudes towards employing people over 55. The thesis focuses on the position of older employees in the labor market in terms of the trend of population aging and strategic documents concerning the employment of older workers. It also focuses on the most common characteristics of older workers, the organizational contexts of their employment, and employers' attitudes toward older workers. Furthermore, an empirical investigation is provided to identify employers' attitudes towards older workers in five industrial organizations in the South Bohemia region. Subsequently, qualitative research is conducted through semi-structured interviews with the heads of HR departments. The areas of discrimination in the workplace, specificities of older workers, strategic approach to the age structure of workers, working conditions, and intergenerational learning in the workplace are monitored. The results show many of employers' attitudes aligned with theoretical bases and research but also neglected areas, especially the strategic management of the age structure of the employees.
