Caravan Club

The bachelor thesis describes the evolution and changes of the phenomenon of organized caravaning in our country from its beginning and its boom to the present. Due to the breadth of the selected theme in the monitored period, from the 1970s to 2019, I focus mainly on Western Bohemia, specifically the Caravan Club Pilsen, of which my family is a member. Part of the book is the autobiographically written memory of Jan Valenta, who wrote the club “Chronicle” from around 1980 to 2011, archival photographs and authorial texts and narrative interviews. The caravanist's biographies allow us to look at both the specifics of this phenomenon and the form of tourism, as well as the functioning of Czech society in the period of so-called normalization and years after. The research as an “insider-caravanist” and the editing of available material resulted in a printed book that maps the historical development and transformations of CC Pilsen from a personal perspective.

The diploma thesis describes the design of your own web application within the long-term collaborative project co.llaborate.online. In a small team, we reflect on our own workflow and designer work. Currently, the common goal is the design and development of MVP for processing text, images and other graphic material into any graphic output - graphic editor co.design. As part of the project, we have also focused for a long time on the concept of compatible MVPs for text editing or data management and user research. The starting point of co.llaborate.online is the principle of DRY (Don't repeat yourself) and the principles of web technologies. We test how certain workflows can be automated and facilitate the collaboration of designers, text authors, editors, proofreaders, etc., or emancipate users from unnecessary activities.

Write a sentence, read it again, select the part that should be in italics, mark it with the mouse or by moving your fingers on the touch pad or keyboard (oopsies, one character off), repeat the marking (this time correctly, ugh), find the right button or use the appropriate keyboard shortcut, write another sentence, paragraph, chapter, essay, book... What happens if the internet crashes, autosaving fails, the version of the software is not up to date? Most of the commonly used text writing tools offer a lot of formatting options, thus directing attention away from the writing itself. This thesis explores their features, (inter)compatibility and user experience. Its goal is to create a specification of the writer.axdx tool which should be used as a text editor for projects within the community-software.axdx (an ecosystem of tools and methods serving communities). The goal of this tool is to bring the focus back to the writing itself, in a format that is not constrained by proprietary software and does not break when opened in another editor. To provide the ability to work with text according to one's own needs, which are otherwise defined by the needs or methods of the so-called power user. To have everything that is needed for writing and nothing that is not.

False memories in individuals with depression

This bachelor thesis deals with the phenomenon of false memories in connection with depressive disorder. The literary overview introduces the issue of false memories and presents three fundamental paradigms associated with their formation: the implantation paradigm, the misinformation paradigm, and the Deese-Roediger-McDermott (DRM) paradigm. The second chapter deals with depressive disorder, its characteristics, and its effects on the creation of false memories. The aim of the research project proposal is to determine whether individuals with a diagnosis of depressive disorder are more susceptible to the formation of false memories, and whether the production of false memories increases when exposed to stimuli with a negative connotation. The bachelor thesis deals with the design of a luminaire created using laser CNC technology. The thesis contains an example of contemporary design in lighting. It briefly informs about light sources and their parameters. It describes the effect of light on people and the lighting requirements. Furthermore are described laser cutting technology, history, principle and usable materials. The practical part describes the whole process of design and production. It includes a source of inspiration, sketches, models, visualizations and prototype.
