Perceptual and pronunciation problems of Czech students of Korean at the segmental plane
Horáková, Štěpánka ; Bozděchová, Ivana (advisor) ; Ferklová, Blanka (referee) ; Červinková Poesová, Kristýna (referee)
The aim of this dissertation is to describe the perceptual and pronunciation problems of Czech learners of Korean at the segmental level. Mastering the sound plan of the target language both in terms of perception and production is one of the basic prerequisites for smooth communication. Therefore, from the beginning of the study, it is necessary to focus on the phonemic ear training and the formation of an articulation base for correct pronunciation in the target language. And since the mother tongue is one of the factors that influence foreign language acquisition in all areas, including phonetics, identifying pronunciation problems of students with a particular mother tongue can lead to more effective phonetics instruction. The introductory theoretical part of the thesis is divided into two chapters. The first introduces the reader to phonetics and its importance in language teaching, while the second focuses on a comparison of Korean and Czech from a phonetic-phonological perspective. The subchapters describe and compare the vocalic and consonant systems, syllable structure, and phonological processes in both languages. On the basis of the comparison, potential perceptual and pronunciation problems are anticipated. The experimental part of the thesis is based on the results of the comparative...

Mazaná, Vladislava ; Zikmundová, Veronika (advisor) ; Horák, Tomáš (referee) ; Ferklová, Blanka (referee)
The aim of this dissertation is to describe the morphological specifics of the dialect of the South Korean island of Jeju. In 2010, the Jeju language was enlisted on the UNESCO list of critically endangered languages. This initiative led to the creation of many projects to support, protect and revitalize the Jeju dialect. Although the Jeju language is classified as a regional dialect in terms of Korean language policy, due to its incomprehensibility with the standard variety, the authorities of the Jeju Special Self-Governing province promote the designation "jejuŏ", the Jeju language. The introductory theorectical part of the dissertation introduces the reader to the issues of Korean language policy, the status of standard Korean and the regional dialects of the Korean language. In this context, the position of the Cheju dialect is described from the point of vies of language policy and from a sociolinguistic point of view. Attention is paid to the ongoing standardization of the Jeju language, as it is closely related to the current state and the development of this language. The next part presents the Jeju language, its phonological and morphological specifics, vocabulary, which is significantly marked by language contact with the languages of the surrounding great powers. The practical part of...

Hajzlerová, Jana ; Horák, Tomáš (advisor) ; Ferklová, Blanka (referee)
The Internet, as the most dynamic medium, brings a new specific dimension of human communication which is not to be described or controlled by the existing terms and norms. This thesis analyses the internet in Korea and shows how much of a complicated and multilevel process it is for the internet to get adapted into political, public, social and also private lives of human beings. Further, from the social science point of view and with regards to the historical and cultural aspects, this thesis aspires to evaluate the emergance and development process of internet-related legislature in Korea, which has been regarded as crucial point of all freedom of speech debates in Korea and also abroad. All these aspects of internet-related issues are joint by introduction into the case of famous blogger named Minerva, his activities as the "internet economic president of Korea", popularization process as well as the law-suit in which he was put in jail. This part of my thesis also presents the findings obtained by directly e-mail-interviewing Minerva, which was a part of my purpose of this thesis, in order to bring insight into his motives.
"Hallyu" phenomenon and Korean TV drama
Kašparová, Marcela ; Löwensteinová, Miriam (advisor) ; Ferklová, Blanka (referee)
Korejská vlna (kor. hallju) není jednoduchý fenomén. Primárně se jí rozumí obliba korejské moderní hudby, televizních seriálů a filmů v Asii od devadesátých let po současnost. Tato práce je zaměřena hlavně na televizní drama, které je z těchto tří žánrů nejvýraznější. Postupně se pod pojem korejská vlna začaly řadit i korejská kuchyně, kosmetika, plastické operace, mobilní telefony a další, např. korejské elektrospotřebiče. Vývoz korejských kulturních produktů přispěl velkou měrou k pozoruhodné a poměrně náhlé proměně ve vidění Korejské republiky očima většiny Japonců, Číňanů, Mongolů, Vietnamců, Filipínců a dalších národů Jihovýchodní Asie. Toto zviditelnění Koreje v Asii považujeme za natolik zásadní, že se zde nebudeme příliš dopodrobna zabývat budoucností korejské vlny, která vždy trápila a trápí Korejce. (...)
