Possibilities of using small modular reactors in the heating industry
Duchoň, Jan ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (referee) ; Milčák, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with nuclear energy, mainly focusing on small modular reactors and their possible use in heating industry. The first chapters are focused on history of nuclear energy, explaining key concepts and describing nuclear reactors and their principle in general. One of the crucial topics, covered in the following section are small modular reactors, key examples of SMRs, their wide range of uses and comparison of advantages and disadvantages of this type of reactors. Next chapter consists of introduction to heating industry, description of situation in Czech republic and analysis of Czech heating plants. The final chapter uses acquired information to assess potential use of SMRs in Czech heating industry as a replacement for fossil fuel heating plants.
Procedural pain in children in intensive care
Duchoň, Jan ; Javůrková, Alena (advisor) ; Sedlářová, Petra (referee)
Diploma thesis Proecdural pain in children in intensive care 11 ABSTRACT Background: This diploma thesis deals with the effect of the pharmacological approach of the topical anesthetic EMLA and the non-pharmacological approach of visual distract- ion on self-reported procedural pain and fear during the insertion of a peripheral venous catheter (appr. PVC) in children aged up 2 to 8 years in the intensive care environment. Objectives: The aim of the theoretical part of this thesis was to provide a systematic review of relevant studies that dealt with the effects of pharmacological and non-pharma- cological interventions used in the procedural pain and fear management in children aged up 6 to 18 years during the PVC insertion. The objective of the empirical part of the thesis was to determine whether the use of the topical anesthetic EMLA in children aged up 8 to 18 years undergoing PVC insertion is more effective in reducing procedural pain and fear than visual distraction and whether the level of procedural pain in these children with regard on the provided therapy is influenced by sociodemographic and clinical variables. Methods: A systematic search was conducted in five relevant databases on PRISMA parameters. N = 16 randomized trials were included in the systematic review. In the pros- pective,...
Conceptual design of a nuclear power source based on a small modular reactor
Duchoň, Jan ; Kracík, Petr (referee) ; Milčák, Pavel (advisor)
This master’s thesis focuses on conceptual design of new nuclear energy source based on small modular reactor with use in heating industry. The reactor SMART was chosen as a fitting candidate. Based on parameters of the reactor, a thermal diagram was created, containing basic components such as steam generator or condenser. Mass balance was determined. A heat exchanger station for use in heating industry was designed. Lastly, basic parameters of some of the main components were designed.
The quality of children's life following burn injury
Duchoň, Jan ; Javůrková, Alena (advisor) ; Jirkovský, Daniel (referee)
Background: The bachelor's thesis deals with the assessment of the long term health- related the quality of life (HRQOL) in children up 2 to 8 years of age following burn inury by The Brisbane Burn Scar Impact Profile (BBSIP) questionnaire in the Czech Republic. Objectives: The aim of the theoretical part of this thesis was to provide a review of the literature and individual studies about HRQOL in children following burn injury and its context. The aim of the empirical part was to assess the influence of individual socio- demographic and clinical determinants on the HRQOL in these patients, identify, which of these variables most predict the HRQOL and implicate these findings into the context of nursing practice regarding comprehensive care for pediatric patients with burns. In this study we also examined the psychometric properties of the czech version of the BBSIP questionnaire on a sample of pediatric patients in the Czech Republic. Methods: The study population comprised n = 1221 children aged up 2 to 8 years, who were hospitalized at the Department of Burn Medicine, 3rd Medical Faculty, Charles University and the Královské Vinohrady University Hospital in the period 2016-2021 and met inclusive and exclusive criteria. A set of BBSIP, POSAS and PedsQL questionnaires was sent to all caregivers...
Posouzení faktorů ovlivňujících kvalitu provedené údržby ploch kolem elektrických ohradníků
DUCHOŇ, Jan
In this thesis called "Assessment of factors influencing quality of performed maintenance of areas around electric fences" design elements from the construction of electric fencing of pastures and the most frequently used methods of their maintenance are described. The purpose of this thesis is to provide basic information about the possibilities of construction, maintenance and maintaining the function of pasture fencing. A more detailed description is given to the individual elements of the grazing fencing construction that agricultural farms and companies most commonly use in common practice. In the thesis, there is a comprehensive overview of all the necessary elements for the construction of a fictitious fence of a land grazed by horses. A configurator by company Kamír&Co, spol. s.r.o. has been chosen. It accurately defined the required material for the construction. The second part of the thesis is devoted to the maintenance itself. Factors affecting the quality of maintenance of areas around fences done by selected agricultural machinery are described here. Measurements are performed in a varied terrain to obtain real results of work of individual machines and to compare the machines with each other. The possibilities of further modification of fenced areas are also considered here. The key element was minimizing workflow repetitions that are necessary for proper functioning of the fence. Especially focusing on the safety of grazed animals (horses, cows). Last but not least, I point out the insufficient maintenance of fencing with often seen examples. A simple explanation of what each of these examples may cause with regard to the safety of animals and humans. Subsequently financial and time side of things.
The quality of life in patients with epilepsy
Duchoň, Jan ; Javůrková, Alena (advisor) ; Jirkovský, Daniel (referee)
Background: The bachelor's thesis deals with the subjective assessment of the quality of life in people with epilepsy by the screening questionnaire Patient Weighted Quality Of Life In Epilepsy Inventory (QOLIE-10-P) in the Czech Republic. Objectives: The aim of this quantitative study was to assess the psychometric properties of the Czech version of the QOLIE-10-P questionnaire, to validate it on a sample of patients in the Czech Republic, to assess the influence of individual sociodemo- graphic and clinical variables on the quality of life of these patients, to determine, which of these variables predict quality of life and perform McCall's area transformation of Mean score and Final score QOLIE-10-P for clinical screening use in nursing practice. Methods: The study population comprised 608 patients from the Center for Epilepsy of the Neurological Department 2nd Medical Faculty Charles University and the Motol University Hospital, who met inclusive and exclusive criteria. All patients underwent neurological and neuropsychological examination and a QOLIE-10-P questionnaire was administered to them. For statistical data processing were used parametric and non- parametric tests, determination of internal consistency, test-retest reliability, factor analysis, linear regression and multiregression...

Porovnání vybraných strojů při údržbě pastvin se systémem kombinovaných ohradníků
DUCHOŇ, Jan
In this bachelor thesis named "Efectiveness comparison of selected agriculture machineries and equipment during pasture maintenance with the systems of combined fences" the most commonly used green maintenance methods are described under the various systems of fencing for livestock. The purpose of this work is to provide basic information about the possibilities of maintenance and preservation of pasture fencing function not only for small and emerging farms and other agricultural companies, but also for farms with a large area, in an effort to compare possibilities and ways to increase efficiency, reduce time and financial demands. A more detailed description is concentrated to the machines that agricultural farms and companies use in common practice most often for the above work. The agricultural machinery and equipment described in this bachelor thesis were selected by the used agricultural public questionnaire which I personally created. I asked about 100 farms and companies about the response and feedback. Based on their responses to the questionnaire's follow-up, it was clear which machines and practices in the maintenance of pasture fencing are most often used regardless of whether they are used in the most efficient way and which farm or company they use. At the end of the thesis are processed results of my comparison of the effectiveness of individual agricultural machinery and equipment. The processed results also indicate which machines are best suited for the maintenance of pasture fencing for livestock. They show their efficiency, time and cost.
