E-learning in Czech non-school corporations

The overall theme of this thesis is the electronic training of employees (volunteers) in Czech non-school organizations. The main objects are the organizations' satisfaction with e-learning methods, benefits and obstacles that organizations face while implementing and using e-learning and forms of e-learning that are distinctive for Czech non-school environment. The theoretical part of the thesis is dedicated first to explaining the term "e-learning" and followed by its brief history. Subsequently, different approaches to classification of e-learning are summed up. One of the chapters follows the work of David A. Kolb - especially his theory of experiential learning including learning styles and their use in the development of e-learning in organization. In the practical part of the thesis the current state of e-learning in the Czech non-school organizations is explored (with the use of a survey). First, the methodology is presented, followed by an analysis of collected data and answering of seven stated research questions with the goal to clarify different aspects of the use of e-learning in Czech non-school organizations. Portals of electronic information resources at Czech universities

The overall theme of the thesis is the current state of Internet portals (gateways) dedicated to electronic information resources at Czech academic libraries. The purpose of such portal (or sites within academic library web pages) is to form a gateway to every electronic resource available within the university. In the theoretical part of the thesis history, purpose and components of such portals are described followed by the typology and organization of electronic information resources used at library portals in the USA and other mainly English speaking countries. The following part of the thesis is a practical application where 6 selected portals are first analyzed then compared with each other according to 5 criterions described in the previous part: organization of its resources, readability, consistency, usability and presence of additional functions or services. Subsequently by applying the method called "Thinking Aloud" usability testing of two selected portal is performed. Selling used books online

The aim of this thesis is to describe selling and buying used books online. This thesis includes analysis of book listing services, where everyone can buy, sell or exchange used books online. These web portals are more common outside of Czech Republic. There is also described practice of online auctions sites (such as Aukro or eBay) that are also often used for trading books. This thesis also includes description of traditional auctions, which are in some way operating online as well. In Czech Republic online antiquarian bookstores are the most common way of buying books. This thesis describes development and current practice of Czech antiquarian bookstores. Part of this thesis include libraries' practice with selling and purchasing used books, as libraries are significant producers and often even buyers of used books. This part includes original research among several libraries.
