TITLE: Determination of value added in education for childern with specific learning disabilities AUTHOR: Alice Běhounková DEPARTMENT: Center of Educational Management SUPERVISOR: PhDr. Jan Voda, Ph.D ABSTRACT: This thesis focuses on how to determine the efficiency of tuition of pupils with specific learning disabilities using the value-added method. It was put together based on a review of the available theoretical sources, research done among the executive staff of elementary schools partaking in the Health Promoting Schools network, and discussions with teachers at Integrál, a private elementary school (Soukromá základní škola Integrál pro žáky se SPU, s.r.o.). The theoretical part provides a brief historical overview of the evaluation of educational processes in the Czech Republic, and of the quantification of results in education in general. It defines added value with a view to both influences attributable to the school and extramural influences, and to both cognitive and non-cognitive educational characteristics. It describes the experiences with measuring added value that have been made abroad and in this country, and in a final section addresses how to capitalize on the results of added value.
