Understanding NATO's Intervention in Non-Member States: The Case of Operation Kosovo Force
Bártová, Adéla ; Tesař, Jakub (advisor) ; Sedlecká, Adéla (referee)
The master's thesis deals with the issue of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's (NATO) out-of-area interventions, specifically focusing on the case of NATO's intervention in Kosovo in 1999. The alliance's decision to intervene against severe violations of human rights in Kosovo despite the lack of a legal mandate to do so was criticized heavily by the international community. This thesis aims to examine the narratives NATO used to justify its involvement in Kosovo. By adopting a theoretical framework of social constructivism, the research aims to examine the role of two constructivist concepts, collective identity and international norms, in the alliance's decision to intervene. To do so, the thesis adopts a discourse-historical approach (DHA) to critical discourse analysis, as established by Reisigl and Wodak (2009). This approach emphasizes the significance of the social, political, and historical context of discourse practices. By adopting the DHA, the thesis seeks to uncover the discursive strategies employed by the alliance to justify and legitimize the intervention in Kosovo. The research is conceived as a case-specific qualitative analysis, which is divided into two sections. The first section deals with the correlation between changes in the official discourse in NATO and the...
Determination of hyaluronan by electromigration methods
Bártová, Adéla ; Mravcová, Ludmila (referee) ; Řezáčová, Veronika (advisor)
This thesis is focused on description hyaluronic acid, characterization of its behaviour in water solutions, its chemical-physical properties and its using in different industrial sectors. The next part deals with possibilities of its analysis. The following section of the thesis is focused on electromigration techniques with special attention dedicated to capillary electrophoretic methods, especially capillary zone electrophoresis. The aim of this thesis is optimization of the method of determination of hyaluronic acid in water solutions by capillary zone electrophoresis.
Analysis of volatile organic compounds produced by monocytes during sepsis
Bártová, Adéla ; Řezáčová, Veronika (referee) ; Mravcová, Ludmila (advisor)
This thesis is focused on the possibility of analysis of volatile organic compounds produced by monocytes during sepsis. Method of comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography with mass spectrometric detection was chosen for this purpose. Content of the first part was the optimization of the method of two-dimensional gas chromatography for the determination of volatile organic compounds. In this part were gradually adjusted parameters of the gas chromatography method to achieve the maximum efficiency. Further were adjusted conditions of samples preparation. Content of the second part was the usage of already optimized method for the analysis of the samples set of monocytes. Samples were subjected to the action of different inhibitors of the immune system and stimulators simulating bacterial or yeast infection. Based on this analysis were identified some compounds, which are produced by monocytes under condition simulating the infection.
Psychic burden of a kindergarten teacher during the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic
BÁRTOVÁ, Adéla
The bachelor's thesis focuses on the issue of psychological stress in job of kindergarten teachers. More specifically, it discusses the burden during the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic. The aim of the work is to ascertain how the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic affected the interviewed kindergarten teachers. The theoretical part presents the topic of stress and burden in connection with the profession of kindergarten teacher. The thesis is also aimed to burnout syndrome and its prevention. The empirical part centeres to the analysis of data obtained through qualitative research. The questions of the semistructured interview with the five kindergarten teachers concerned mainly the experience of the situation, the changes due to the pandemic and the burnout syndrome. Final results showed that the situation was more difficult for kindergarten teachers, paradoxically they did not show any symptoms of increased mental stress.
Enzymatic oxidations of alcohols in biosynthesis of bumblebee pheromones
Bártová, Adéla ; Valterová, Irena (advisor) ; Bosáková, Zuzana (referee)
Secretion of cephalic labial gland of Buff-tailed bumblebee males (Bombus terrestris) contains a mixture of terpene alcohols, aliphatic alcohols, esters and alkanes with small amount of aldehydes potentially biosynthetized of (S)-2,3-dihydrofarnesol and geranylcitronellol (major alcoholic compounds). This secretion acts as a marking and luring pheromone during patrolling. This study is focused on oxidation of terpene alcohols using enzymes of cephalic labial gland of a bumblebee. In vitro incubations were accomplished with homogenate of cephalic labial gland and a various substrates: E,E-farnesol, geraniol, 2,3-dihydrofarnesol, hexadecanol. Conditions of incubations and following analysis using gas chromatography were optimized. Two products were detected of farnesol and geraniol incubations, which then later were identified using chemical oxidation with pyridinium-chlorochromate, measurement of NMR specters and MS specters, as two isomers of 2,3-bond. Hexadecanol was not oxidized.
Influencers and their perceptions of authenticity and credibility on social media
Bártová, Adéla ; Vochocová, Lenka (advisor) ; Reifová, Irena (referee)
This diploma thesis is devoted to the phenomenon of lifestyle influencers and the factors of authenticity and credibility. The work aims to bring the view of the community itself on the issue of the already mentioned factors in the field of social media and at the same time to find out whether there are specific strategies for their achievement. In addition, the work also aims to explore the role of authenticity and credibility for commercial entities, specifically for marketing experts. In the introduction, I explain the concept of influencers, the associated influencer marketing, and what factors can affect the success of influencers. In the second chapter, I focus on social media, how their arrival has affected the media sphere, and clarify the positives and negatives that are associated with their existence. I also pay attention to authenticity and credibility, two fundamental factors for this thesis. I explain their meaning, I present the indicators that have been defined so far for their detection and I also approach the specific strategies that are used by influencers. The practical part of the work is based on a qualitative method of semi-structured interviews with six selected lifestyle influencers and four marketing experts. Data analysis provides insight into the environment of influencers, from...

Biosynthesis of the bumblebee male pheromones and its hormonal regulation.
Bártová, Adéla ; Valterová, Irena (advisor) ; Smrček, Stanislav (referee)
Bumblebees are important pollinators, commercially used in large-scale plant growing in greenhouses. Their males produce marking pheromones for mating, which attract young bumblebee queens. These pheromones are often a complicated mixture of chemicals, which is produced in the male labial gland, and the mixture itself is specific for each bumblebee species. The regulation of bumblebee sexual pheromone biosynthesis is largely unknown, and this Master's thesis is focused on the analysis of the mechanisms which lead to the regulation of the Bombus terrestris male pheromone's fat-acid and terpenes biosynthesis, specifically on stereospecific enzymatic reduction of double bond of farnesol. This thesis studies the influence of potential neurohormones on a specific enzymatic mixture, which is involved in the pheromone biosynthesis. Methods used in this project include biochemical, analytic and molecular-biology methods.
