Study of crack retarders geometry modification effect on integral structural panel stability with the use of Finite Element method
Moštěk, Daniel ; Augustin, Petr (referee) ; Katrňák, Tomáš (advisor)
The master’s thesis concerns itself with evaluating the impact of four dimensional parameters of a specific type of crack retarder on improving the compressional buckling strength of an integral wing panel, using the finite element method. The improvements in buckling strength were particularly assessed with concerns to the added mass of the crack retarders. The crack retarders are composed of a so-called terminal section and so-called side branches. The thesis includes a literature review on the buckling of skin-stringer panels and an overview of crack retarder types. In the practical part of the thesis created FEM models of the examined variants are described along with the achieved results, which are subsequently evaluated. It was concluded that the examined parameters related to the terminal section significantly influence the increase of buckling strength of a given variant and are efficient concerning added mass. On the other hand, the examined parameters related to the side branches were deemed less significant and their alteration was inefficient in terms of added mass.
Evaluation of an inspection program and overhauls for ZLIN 26 aircraft
Jančář, Milan ; Finda, Jindřich (referee) ; Augustin, Petr (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis deals with ZLIN Z 26 Series Aircraft maintenance and repairs procedures. Even the name shows, that this theme is very demanding and extensive. My interest was to explain some maintenance procedures of these aircraft and offer changes of it. In the beginning of this thesis we can briefly learn history of the ZLIN Aircraft and particular Z 226 Series models. There are mentioned difference maintenance procedures, applicable on the planes thru the service life time. Inspection and overhaul procedures are described in details and for better understanding were attached drawings or photos. Following chapter deals with evaluation existing inspections and overhauls - maintenance – procedures. Optimization of the maintenance is part of the chapter fourth, where is described possible innovation of the maintenance check list. In the last, fifth chapter, of this thesis are mentioned possibilities of the ZLIN Aircraft life time prolongation, which is actually discussed because of some aircraft of this type series reached basic life time limit, without any serious fatigue airframe damages appears.
Design of new konception of the structural design of the main wing hinges of the Z 242
Hála, Aleš ; Augustin, Petr (referee) ; Píštěk, Antonín (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with modernization of the Z 242 L aircraft wing. The main emphasis is given to the connection of the wing and fuselage. The new concept of both main and rear wing spar is designed together with integral fuel tank. The strength of the structure is evaluated analytically and numerically by use of Finite element analysis. Wide range of milling operations is implemented into manufacturing process as well. This thesis shows how to innovate current aircraft with respect to feasibility of the design in case of future project realization.
Criteria for fatigue evaluation of riveted joints
Adámek, Petr ; Augustin, Petr (referee) ; Vlček, Dalibor (advisor)
This thesis describes proposal of a methodology for evaluating fatigue life of riveted joints. The first section summarizes the theory used to evaluate fatigue life, description of the structure of operation load spectra and construction principles for the design joints for optimum durability. The second part of the thesis focuses on the proposal of a methodology enabling analytical solutions in closed form suitable for the initial structural design and also numerical solutions for use in detailed analyzes of the structure. The applicability of the methodology is demonstrated on an example of analysis of a real structural detail and subsequent comparison of the analysis with available test results.
Welded construction of vertical lathes
Augustin, Petr ; Novotný, Lubomír (referee) ; Marek, Jiří (advisor)
The selected topic of my bachelor thesis deals primarily with the substitution of foundry weldment. TOSHULIN a.s. with a seat in Hulin, production of vertical turning machines. The goa of this thesis is to theoretically and practically assess the pros and cons of the substitution.
Damage tolerance evaluation of L410 NG aircraft lower wing integrally stiffened panel
Vlček, Dalibor ; Juračka, Jaroslav (referee) ; Augustin, Petr (advisor)
Master’s thesis deals with the damage tolerance evaluation of L410 NG aircraft lower wing integrally stiffened panel including crack growth and residual strength analyses and inspection program proposal. Presented DT evaluation has been done using FE model of the wing and AFGROW software.
Safe-life extension program for ZLIN Z 126 and 226 airplanes
Jančář, Milan ; Juračka, Jaroslav (referee) ; Augustin, Petr (advisor)
This master's thesis discusses the possibilities of safe-life extension program for ZLIN Z 126 and 226 airplanes, which despite their age and long-end production are still widespread and popular not only in the Czech Republic. The age of these aircraft is also related to the fact, that some aircraft are already approaching its border life, so there is an interest for the longest possible technical and legislative airworthiness. As mentioned in my bachelor's thesis, during the existence of this model series, there was no major damage occurred, except for sporadic exfoliation corrosion of wing flanges. Experience with maintenance of this aircraft points to certain underestimation of the current 5500hrs lifetime and it is obvious to suggest possible steps to increase the current limit. The thesis is therefore considered in this context the possibility of producing new wing flanges made of another material, performed the calculation for wing fatigue exchanged with flanges and designed technological process of this exchange, so that ZLIN Z 126 and 226 airplanes can be safely operated in the future.
Damage tolerance analysis using load interaction models
Vaněk, David ; Augustin, Petr (referee) ; Bvoc, Maroš (advisor)
Master’s thesis deals with study of fatigue crack growth retardation models. This document presents description, evaluation, verification and finally application of retardation models demonstrated on the damage tolerant structure. Analysis was provided on the L 410 NG aircraft in the location of the rear spar lower flange joint. Output of this thesis is comparison of the damage tolerance analysis with the current method using in the Aircraft Industry a. s., i.e. linear model without using load interaction models. The comparisons are fatigue crack growth curves, threshold and intervals of inspection program. AFGROW software was used for verification and application of retardation models.
Fatigue Evaluation of Aircraft Structure According to FAR Part 23 Airworthiness Standards
Čermák, Jakub ; Koštial, Rostislav (referee) ; Augustin, Petr (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with acceptable means of showing compliance with the FAR 23 regulation based on safe-life experimental and analytical evaluation. In the introduction the author focuses on the historical development of the regulation and follows with summarization of current requirements. The subsequent pages describes in detail the certification based on full-scale testing, component testing and structural analysis using the cumulative rule. Appendix includes examples of load spectra approved by the FAA.
Technics and Methods of Aircraft Testing
Rydlo, Tomáš ; Augustin, Petr (referee) ; Jebáček, Ivo (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis deals with processing of technics and methods of aircraft testing. Even the name shows that this theme is very demanding and extensive. Therefore was the aim to simplify this area and compile his summary. The work is divided into three basic areas of static strength tests, fatigue tests and flight tests. At the beginning of each area is familiar with the issues and methods to solving problems. For lucidity is each area subdivided and accompanied by pictures.
