Functional anthropometric changes of trunk position after ankle injuries
ŠVARC, Jiří
This thesis deal with functional changes in trunk position in patients after an ankle injury. Changes in trunk posture are examined on a pelvic position on probands between 4 to 8 weeks after an ankle injury. The result of the work could indicate whether the ankle joint injury affects the position of the pelvis and whether there is a typical pelvic posture after this injury. In the first part of the thesis, I present theoretical knowledge that provides the basis for the research part. I rely on the anatomical structure and kinesiology of the lower limb, the functional connection of the lower limb as a whole, the principles of generalization of functional disorders in the human body, and knowledge about injuries to the ankle joint. The aim of this thesis is to analyze functional anthropometric changes in the position of the trunk after ankle joint injuries, which are evaluated by examining the position of the spina iliaca anterior superior, spina iliaca posterior superior and crista iliaca. The research part is performed by the method of mixed research. The subject of the research is the clinical examination of ten probands after ankle joint injury and statistical evaluation of the obtained data on the position of the pelvis. Results: In all ten probands there was a decrease in at least one observed pelvic structure on the side of the injured ankle joint. Six probands showed a drop in all three structures on the injured side. In the remaining four probands, only the spina iliaca posterior superior of the injured side dropped. Conclusion: All probands after ankle joint injury showed a drop in at least one pelvic structure on the side after an ankle injury. The position of the pelvis was not the same for all probands.
Measuring personality psychopathology with Cloninger's model

The goal of this study was to validate the Cloninger's seven-factor personality model in relation to detailed examination of patients with depressive episode or recurrent depressive disorder with a structured interview, which we translated and obtained practical experience as the first ones in the Czech Republic. We put the results of the structured interview for personality disorders (International Personality Disorder Examination; IPDE) in relation with the Cloninger's personality theory operationalized with the Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI). We found that personality psychopathology measured with a dimensional score of the structured interview IPDE negatively correlates with Self-directedness levels, a character dimension of TCI. This result supports Cloninger's idea of relation between personality psychopathology and a level of Self-directedness. We then found a similar relation for the dimension Cooperativeness, but without statistical significance. Specific profiles of TCI for the individual personality psychopathology types according to IPDE are little evident from the clinical view, and as such insufficient for individual clinical diagnostics; high levels of the temperament dimension Harm Avoidance tend to remain within three measurements in time and is considerably higher than levels of...
Effects of competition on the passenger rail market in the Czech Republic
Švarc, Jiří ; Ježek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Chmelová, Pavla (referee)
In order to reform the monopoly structure of the railway sector in the Czech Republic the railway operation was separated from railway infrastructure. Despite the mentioned organization reform current intensity of rivalry of the competition in the passenger rail transport segment stays considerably limited and high subsidy demands are made to ensure the public rail transport operation. This thesis analyses funding of the passenger rail transport and tries to discover the causes of high subsidy demands. It also tries to quantify potential savings of the public funds that are provided to operate long-distance passenger rail transport.
Sustainability and the future of managed floating in China
Švarc, Jiří ; Antoš, Ondřej (advisor) ; Ježek, Tomáš (referee)
The purpose of this thesis is to study the Balance of Payments and the Exchange Rate of the People's Republic of China, and it aims to assess whether the current performance of their Managed Floating Exchange Rate is sustainable in the future (given the equilibrium of China's Balance of Payments) and examine what effect would a Free Floating Renminbi Exchange Rate have on the Chinese economy. The work uses the method of compilation - gathering and organizing information on the development of China's External Balance of Payments, renminbi, and foreign exchange reserves. Government, together with the Central Bank initially practiced the Fixed Exchange Rate of the domestic currency against the U.S. dollar. The Stable Exchange Rate regime has been replaced by a system of Managed Floating since the second half of 2005. In this context the work uses the method of comparison -- comparing the situation before the mentioned replacement, and subsequent development. Based on the individual findings, it has become obvious that a significant imbalance in China's equilibrium Balance of Payments continues. Furthermore, the work suggests effects the Free Floating Exchange Rate of renminbi would have on the Chinese economy. The conclusion points out the possible complications of China's currency management that may affect the Chinese economy.
