Design of the flow chart of Electro-Thermal Energy Storage unit with sCO2 circulation and calculation of its parameters
Suchomel, Josef ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (referee) ; Škorpík, Jiří (advisor)
The most commonly used medium for most cycles is water. However, from an ecologi-cal point of view, carbon dioxide is a more suitable medium. Firstly, there will be less water consumption, and secondly, it is a monitored greenhouse gas whose quantity is required to be regulated. In this thesis, a heat plant is proposed, whose medium is CO2. Moreover, it is an electro-thermal energy storage unit, which could play an important role in the regulation of the energy system. The aim of the thesis is first to summarize the current knowledge of the given issue, and then to design a flow chart of the electro-thermal energy storage unit, including individual cycles and basic dimensions of turbomachinery.
Labyrinth seals for turbines and aircraft engines
Studnička, Ondřej ; Škorpík, Jiří (referee) ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis focuses on the development and optimization of labyrinth seals used in turbines with the goal of improving their efficiency and reducing energy losses. The work combines theoretical approaches with practical application. In the theoretical part, existing seals and their most advanced types were analyzed. Subsequently, several prototypes were designed and manufactured using new unconventional technologies. The issues related to production were described. Finally, the seals were experimentally measured and evaluated.
Wind potential in the conditions of the Czech Republic in the lower atmosphere
Sedláček, Jakub ; Škorpík, Jiří (referee) ; Linda, Jakub (advisor)
The presented bachelor thesis deals with online wind potential simulation tools, specifically the accuracy of their estimation through Weibull curves. For comparison, data from measuring stations exclusively focused on the lower atmosphere are used. The first part of the paper explains the wind, its characteristics and other important concepts for a better understanding of the topic. The following part is devoted to wind maps and models used for their construction. In the last part, the simulation tools are compared with actual measured data and their accuracy is evaluated. Based on this accuracy, the result of this work is finally assessed.
Multirotor wind power plant for the Czech Republic
Boršoš, Adam ; Linda, Jakub (referee) ; Škorpík, Jiří (advisor)
As the power of wind turbines increases, the rotor diameter usually increases as well. This complicates transportation and handling. The multirotor power plant concept has the potential to minimise this problem. In this paper, various aspects of multirotor power plants have been described in general terms. The landscape of the Czech Republic has been analysed in terms of conditions for wind power plants and consequently a suitable site for the location of a multirotor power plant has been selected. This was followed by the selection of the wind turbine model for the multirotor design. After calculating the outputs and comparing the key parameters of the three models, the most suitable model was selected. This was followed by the actual design of the structure, which was created according to the results of the strength analysis in SolidWorks. Finally, a calculation of the dimensions of the equivalent single-rotor wind turbine was made and the corresponding model was selected. Also, the designed multi-rotor power plant was compared with the wind power plants surrounding the selected location.
Design of hydrogen jet engine to 1kN thrust
Mikulenka, Karel ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (referee) ; Škorpík, Jiří (advisor)
This thesis includes a brief history of jet engines using hydrogen as fuel. Calculation of thermodynamics of small engine with thrust up to 1 kN which is in modern day used in practice drones or ballistic missiles will be conducted. Given initial parameters compressor selected is of radial type. Calculation of radial compressor and its verification in EES software. Issue of combustion chambers is presented and calculation of chamber balance is carried out. Computation of turbine and blading layout. Proposal of jet for expansion into atmosphere and engine thrust. Comparison of contemporary projects researching hydrogen propulsion in aerospace with their conventional counterparts and assessing their feasibility compared to other types of renewable fuels.
Seasonal variation in renewable energy supply
Rymešová, Lucie ; Škorpík, Jiří (referee) ; Linda, Jakub (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis focuses on seasonal fluctuations in energy supply from renewable sources, specifically photovoltaic and wind power plants. It includes a literature review on renewable energy sources and their importance in the energy sector. It further explores the principles and utilization of photovoltaic and wind power plants. The thesis analyses seasonal fluctuations in energy supply by processing data from the ČHMÚ station and examines their impacts on the energy system. The results of the analysis of seasonal fluctuations are presented and compared. It is evident that solar energy has the largest share during the summer months, while wind energy has the highest contribution during the winter months. The results suggest that a suitable combination of photovoltaic and wind power plants could suppress seasonal variations in electricity supply and contribute to its stable production within smaller energy units.
Design Kalina cycle for geothermal power plant and its turbine.
Luermann, Július ; Martinec, Jiří (referee) ; Škorpík, Jiří (advisor)
This master’s thesis analyses Kalina cycle, a power cycle where ammonia – water solution is used as a working fluid. The first part of this study introduces us to the Kalina cycle, presents its advantages and disadvantages, characteristics of the working fluid and its applications. Second section concerns with the method of cycle design and describes the calculation model made in this thesis. The calculation model is attached in a separate .XLSM file. The third part shows calculation of the cycle for given parameters, determination of cycle efficiency and main proportions of the thermal turbine. In the conclusion are the interpretations of the calculations results.
Steam turbine
Čípek, Petr ; Škorpík, Jiří (referee) ; Fiedler, Jan (advisor)
The aim of the thesis is to design a high-speed steam turbine as a small energy source. Steam turbine consists of a high-pressure, a medium-pressure and a low-pressure part with a removable condensing module. High-pressure part is designed to perform a single-stage radial turbine with axial steam outlet. The work also includes the layout of the modules and sections. To design individual parts are used steam table „X-steam“.
Characteristic properties of axial stages of working machines
Hejduk, Michal ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (referee) ; Škorpík, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor work is dealing with conclusion of basic characteristic of axial stages working machines. First part of this thesis presents the characteristics of principle behind every turbomachinery therefore not only the working machine but turbine as well. In the end of the first part the basic equations, which may be needed in the construction of such machines. Second part focuses on characteristic features, which are the same or very similar throughout axial turbomachinery. The last part of this thesis works with usage of different work machines in the industry. It is also mentioned here why are the axial turbomachinery work machines used instead of radial or tangential work machines
