Attachment of children in temporary foster care
Králová, Anna ; Urban, Kamila (advisor) ; Širancová, Katarína (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the attachment of children placed in temporary foster care up to 2 years of age. PPPD is a specific form of foster care that has been embedded in our social system for a relatively short period of time, and its impact on attachment has not been studied in the Czech Republic. There is a lack of data on the influence of some factors that may play a role in the attachment formation process in this care (length of care, age of the foster parent, stress of the foster parent, age of the child at placement, risk score of the child). This research aims to help clarify the influence of these factors on attachment development in PPPD. The research is designed as a prospective longitudinal within-subjects design with analyses using the McNemar Bowker test of symmetry and multinomial hierarchical logistic regression. The thesis will use, among others, the laboratory Strange Situation Procedure and the Experiences in Close Relationships - Revised scale. We expect that greater length of PPPD, higher age of placement, higher foster parent stress, higher foster parent age, and higher child risk scores will predict insecure forms of attachment. The resulting findings may contribute to improved and research-based practice in implementing this form of care, for example in the areas of...

Emotional intelligence in emerging adulthood and parenting styles
Svobodová, Pavlína ; Jardin Kocourek, Renata (advisor) ; Širancová, Katarína (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the relationship between emotional intelligence and parenting styles among people in the age of emerging adulthood. The literary review part summarizes current knowledge on the concept of emotional intelligence, its components, diagnostic tools and its significance in human development. Furthermore the work characterizes the period of emerging adulthood according to Arnett and its specifics. Additionally, it deals with parenting styles, mainly according to the model by Čáp and Mareš. Lastly, the thesis summarizes the findings so far on the relationship between emotional intelligence and parental upbringing. The proposal of the research project aims to observe, using the Family Parenting Questionnaire and the MSCEIT emotional intelligence test, the connection between the parenting style and the emotional intelligence of adolescents aged 18-22. The research will mainly deal with questions focused, for instance, on the relationship between the observed level of emotional intelligence in adolescents with favorable/optimal parenting styles versus those with less favorable parenting styles; or on differences in emotional intelligence among respondents reflecting a positive or negative emotional relationship with their parents and different forms of control (weak,...
Psychological issues in severe burn trauma
Širancová, Katarína ; Šípek, Jiří (advisor) ; Fajtlová, Zuzana (referee)
Burn injury is one of the most serious traumatic events with possible psychological and psychosocial consequences. This paper deals with a topic not yet explored in Czech Republic - (especially) psychological factors affecting the response to trauma in order to identify patients with worse response, who require more attention of experts. The theoretical part of the paper describes burn injury as an extremely stressful event and presents factors that co- determine the individual's response to the trauma. It also describes the most common mental problems observed in people with burns. The theoretical part serves as a basis for the empirical part of the paper which presents our own research of exploratory character. The aim of the research was to identify the factors related to depression, anxiety and patient's perception of health, in a research sample of 52 adult patients shortly before hospital discharge. Minority of patients in our sample reported moderate and severe depression and anxiety symptoms. Health perception of most patients corresponded to average values in normal population while depression was found as its predictor and it also correlated with the personality traits neuroticism, introversion and consciousness. We found the predictors of depression to be the personality traits...
