Mathematical modeling of early embryogenesis processes

1 Abstract: Early embryogenesis is a fundamental phenomenon of developmental biology, which involves the establishment of the first structures within embryos. The work focuses on mathematical spatial models of mammalian blastulation, which were created based on spatial approach. We discuss and compare six mo- dels, which simulate the differentiation of cell lines and the formation of blas- tocyst structures. Models are based on local rules, using considerable cellular abstraction. Models focus on the processes of differentiation of the blastomere into the trophoectoderm and the inner cell mass, followed by the establishment of the structure of the epiblast and the primitive endoderm.
Simulation of Stock Exchange

The topic of this work is simulation of stock market. Studying the dependence of Prague stock exchange index PX depending on the macroeconomic parameters. It uses the connection methods, neural networks and random walks, where the random walk forward trained neural network functions as decision-making unit, normally used instead of linear approximation. Specially concerning the relationship of dependence PX on exchange rate U.S. dollar and Czech crown, gross domestic product of the Czech Republic and 2W repo rate. Simulation is performed using neural networks and linear approximation to the historical dates against them is then validated.

Application of probabilistic methods in geomechanics

Three probabilistic methods of different complexity for slope stability calculations are in this work evaluated with respect to a well-documented case study of slope failure in Lodalen, Norway. A finite element method considering spatial random fields of uncorrelated parameters cohesion and friction angle is taken as a reference for comparison with two simpler methods based on Taylor series expansion, known as first-order-second-moment methods. It is shown that the FOSM method enhanced by a reduction of variance of input parameters due to spatial averaging along the potential failure surface leads to a significant improvement in predictions. This method is computationally inexpensive and can be used in combination with any existing finite element code, it is thus a useful approximate probabilistic method for geotechnical practice. Several limitations of the extended method for calculating probability of a slope failure are identified. An advanced hypoplastic constitutive model is used in probabilistic analyses of a typical geotech- nical problem, strip footing. The model, including horizontal and vertical correlation lengths, was calibrated using a set of experimental data on sand from horizontally stratified deposit. Some parameters followed normal, whereas other followed lognormal distributions....

Camouflage pattern generator

The thesis focuses on the visual camouflage generation problem characterised by cre- ating a colored pattern that, when printed on an object, has concealment capabilities. A good concealment can save lives of military personnel and protect important facilities. We approach the problem by devising a genetic algorithm with problem-specific ge- netic operators. The complexity of the algorihm lies in innovative utilization of the saliency predicting tool in the fitness operator. The construction of the operator con- nects human vision, image processing, deep learning and evolutionary computation. Along the computaionally costly fitness operator we suggest fast and simple concep- tually related trial operator we use for exploring characterics of the costly one. Then, we use this knowledge for generation of a camouflage pattern for forest environment. 1
Software Solution for Geometric Constructions

The thesis presents the program which can visualize geometric constructions given by the construction steps. It is intended for students of primary and secondary schools. The program was written in the C# program language using the Windows Forms platform designed for creating graphics applications. It is inspired by GeoGebra software but it focuses more on the construction steps than the construction itself. The program's main part works with the basic geometric objects such as point, line and circle. In addition, it contains an option to create new geometric objects based on the previously created ones. It can find the intersections of the two basic objects and work with them. In the thesis there are a few examples of geometric constructions and also the illustrations of their solutions with the application. The thesis discusses how the program can be used as a learning tool in the educational process in schools and at home as well.
