TITLE: Place six-and eight-year grammar schools in the Czech education system AUTHOR: Richard Šťastný DEPARTMENT: Department in English language SUPERVISOR: PhDr. Václav Trojan Ph.D. ABSTRACT: This bachelor's thesis deals with the problematic of reopening six-and eight-year grammar schools. Since the reopening in 1990 their existence have been criticised for not being justified. In this thesis the arguments are given for and also against their preservation. The theme of these schools is introduced in the theoretical part of the thesis. The historical context and the position of these schools in the modern school system are presented and questioned. The empiric part is a quantitative research in which opinions of various experts in this field were compared. The main aim of the research was to find out how the actual work position of interested subjects influences their attitudes towards the existence of these grammar schools.
