A teacher as a victim of violence
Tomášek, Jan ; Pelikán, Jiří (advisor) ; Černíková, Vratislava (referee) ; Koťa, Jaroslav (referee)
The thesis is focused on violence against teachers. It is a broadly discussed topic because of several cases of teachers assaulted by a student in the Czech Republic or abroad, sometimes with fatal consequences. Usually there is an opinion that youth violent behaviour is on increase and therefore educational profession is becoming a risk one. The thesis suggests there is some kind of distortion in sources of such information which such opinions are based on. It relates both to news coverage and crime statistics. There is also a problem to define violence or aggressive behaviour. Moreover, we should consider them in a close relation to the work of a teacher, ideally as a type of so called workplace violence. The thesis explores causes of violence against teachers. Not only with respect to perpetrator but also regarding the victim and his or her behaviour or specific features typical for interaction between teachers and students. Empirical research is the most important source of relevant information related to the extent and patterns of violence against teachers. Unfortunately, there are only few studies focused on the problem. This is the reason why the discussion of the problem is usually based on guesswork or speculations but not on the real knowledge. The author of the thesis tries to summarize outcomes...

Mentor, his Importance and his Training for Work with Persons Released from Prison
Petrboková, Lenka ; Válková, Helena (advisor) ; Černíková, Vratislava (referee)
My thesis discusses the importance of having mentors work with individuals released from prison as a means to prepare them for re-entry into society. First, I present a theoretical framework that enables better insight into the issue. I conclude by comparing the mentor system in the Czech Republic to that of the United States, with a focus on the role and importance of mentors in working with individuals released from prison. I approached this from my own perspective, as I served as a mentor for over three years. I have seen firsthand the struggles of some when it comes to re-integration in society, and I have also seen programs that work, all from the perspective of an on-the-ground mentor. The work also describes the training mentors receive and testimonials from clients who were released from prison and received help from the mentoring program, both in the Czech Republic and in other country. Mentors' importance lies mainly in the fact that the mentor helps to solve problems of these people and at the earliest possible time after their release. Mentoring has its reach into the communities where it is applied. For clients is very important experiences that their situation can be resolved the way that it does not violate the law and that there is someone you trust and who is accompanied in this way.
Working with prisoners and the formation of standardized programs
Bajcura, Lubomír ; Šotolová, Eva (advisor) ; Sochůrek, Jan (referee) ; Černíková, Vratislava (referee)
In the year 2007 for the Prison Service of the Czech Republic the new treatment program for offenders of commercially motivated sexual abuse of children became preferred. Community is very focused on this area of criminality. In 2007 there were 1 205 of abuse of children. Getting over the long-standing taboo has criminological consequences, which has been confirmed by records on sexual abuse and maltreatment in personal files of dangerous offenders. Therefore, special treatment with offenders of sexual abuse of children represents part of the fight against the most serious criminality and contributes to protection to the most vulnerable members of our community. Commercially motivated sexual abuse of children has been frequently accomplished through a third person that uses pressure or violence on a child. That is why offenders deny their guilt before both the community and their own conscience. The standardized program should guide an offender towards recognition of reasons and consequences of his/her criminal activities. The research part of this thesis concentrates on how the program is perceived by both the offenders and the realization team. The huge potential of the educational part of the program, where facts and theoretical information on the specific criminal activities play the formative role, was...

Sentenced to community service - an alternative to imprisonment
Mottlová, Jana ; Šotolová, Eva (advisor) ; Sochůrek, Jan (referee) ; Černíková, Vratislava (referee)
The thesis deals with the topic of penalties alternative to the imprisonment. Given the fact the theme of alternative punishments is very large, the dissertation specialises mostly in a penalty of community services. In the thesis the alternative punishment is presented from the point of view of the occupation whose main task is to contribute to the penal justice and to solving penal conflicts. The domain that the Probation and mediation service of the Czech Republic has represented since 2001 stands on the frontier of the social work and the law and brings out the need to define the context of its own use, role, theoretical grounds and last but not least operational procedures, mechanisms and principles of a professional work. The penalty of community services started to be used in our penal justice in 1996 and it has gone through great changes ever since. The thesis describes in details the historical evolution of this punishement. First forms of an alternative treatment of offenders, especially the probation was developing late 19th century and in the beginning of the 20th century chiefly in countries of Western and Northen Europe.
