NEW ON THE „OLD“ – Brno, Bratislavská - Stará Corner
Čermáková, Anna ; Sochor, Jan (referee) ; Františák, Luboš (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with an architectural and urban design of a possible build-up development of a vacant lot at the corner of the streets Stará and Bratislavská in the town district Brno-střed. The project includes the creation of street lines, a public space and a high-rise point at the corner of the streets. Thanks to the variation in height and the facade propositions, the mass of the building is distributed into several parts. This way the building object is well adjusted to the scale factor of the neighbouring buildings. The main function of the object is housing, and the additional functions include a commercial property, a café and a dance studio.

Phytoplankton of drinking water reservoirs in the Jizera Mountains, Czech Republic, in relation to treatability of water
Čermáková, Anna ; Hořická, Zuzana (advisor) ; Procházková, Lenka (referee)
The area of the Jizera Mountains (northern Bohemia) was significantly affected by acid atmospheric deposition in the second half of the 20th century. This mountain area has a very sensitive geology and is characterized by the predominance of spruce stands, naturally acidic shallow soils of podzolic type, large areas of peat bogs in the upper plateau, a rough climate, and a very high annual rainfall. The frequent heavy rains and a low infiltration capacity of soils brought about floods in the past, very dangerous for the populated foothills. , so in the early 20th century For that reason, a plan was proposed to construct a system of reservoirs for a flood protection of the area. In the 1970s, the need for new sources of drinking water increased in the area. The Souš retention and recreation reservoir was rebuilt to a drinking water reservoir in 1974, and a new drinking water reservoir Josefův Důl was bulit in 1982. Both the water bodies have had a dystrophic character since the beginning, and the Souš reservoir suffers from naturally high concentrations of aluminum. Due to the anthropogenic acidification, the reservoirs were fishless until brook charr (Salvelinus fontinalis) were successfully (re)introduced in the 1990s, and the diversity and numbers of the zooplankton were very low. The Risk Factors of Lung Cancer. Lug Cancer in Women
Čermáková, Anna ; Kára, Jan (advisor)
Theme of her thesis dealing with lung cancer women I have chosen not only because it belongs to the Czech Republic countries with high incidence and mortality for lung cancer, but also personal interest in this issue. Lung cancer is by far the most common malignant us cancer in men. For women, the incidence of this tumor is about four times lower than in men, but worrying is the fact that the curve for women incidence has increased steadily. Although a direct link has been demonstrated a number of risk factors, especially smoking, another question arises about the influence of other substances, especially in women, where the representation ofdifferent histological different types of lung tumors. Therefore, there are hypotheses whether women have no share in the development of lung cancer, especially adenocarcinoma, hormonal influences. That was the impetus for writing this work, which I tried to find association between the occurrence ofadenocarcinoma in women and hormonal contraceptives, hormone replacement therapy and length of time between menarche and menopause.
Valency frames of Czech nouns: corpus-driven study
Čermáková, Anna ; Petkevič, Vladimír (advisor) ; Panevová, Jarmila (referee) ; Kopřivová, Marie (referee)
This thesis aims at providing a lexicological framework for systematic description of valency of Czech nouns. Valency is seen here as a lexicological property of words. Valency is an abstract relation with concrete textual realizations and the term "valency" is used here for both: the abstract notion and the concrete valency exponents and realisations. The analysis is corpus-driven and as such it is based on a rather loose notion of valency, devoid of any pre-conceived ideas, concentrating on typical structural patterns of occurrence on the right side of the noun under investigation. For the analysis the corpus SYN2000, a part of the Czech National Corpus has been used. The analysis is based on random selections of concordance lines of randomly chosen 99 nouns from the middle frequency range. In some cases, where the data proved insufficient, we have carried out additional specialized corpus queries. For high frequency nouns we assume highly differentiated valency profiles; to confirm this hypothesis we have carried out additional brief analysis of several high frequency nouns. The most frequent valency of Czech nouns is genitive complementation, which we find as occurring with more than 90% of the analysed nouns. For some of the nouns, the genitive valency is a very dominant valency pattern (in some cases...
Transfer of an employee to alternative work due to health reasons
Čermáková, Anna ; Tomšej, Jakub (advisor) ; Matějka Řehořová, Lucie (referee)
1 Transfer of an employee to alternative work due to health reasons Abstract This thesis deals with the legal regulation of the institute of transferring an employee to alternative work due to health reasons and its related labor law contexts. The introductory chapter briefly describes the development and legal regulation of the institute of transfer of an employee to alternative work. Attention is focused on the compliance of unilateral transposition with the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms and the obligations arising from international treaties, as well as the principles of labor and civil law. In addition to that, essential terms for the further discussion of the institute of transfer of an employee are being defined: the type of work, specific description of the type of work and the employer's dispositional power. The second part of the thesis is dedicated to the legal regulation of changes in the content of the employment by agreement and unilateral legal action and in particular, by transfer. The third part focuses on the introduction of basic occupational health concepts, which are used in the following chapters focusing on transfers due to health reasons. Attention is focused mainly on the medical opinion, which is one of the most common and problematic reasons for transferring employees...
Bedřich Brenske and "the language of evil": Nazi totalitarian discourse as means of characterization in Arnošt Lustig's novella A Prayer for Kateřina Horovitzová
Gráfová, Sarah Jane ; Čermáková, Anna (advisor) ; Adamovičová, Ana (referee)
The present master's thesis undertakes to provide a comparative study of authentic and literary nazi discourse. It takes up the thread of research already carried out into the concept of original nazi language, projects existing observations on that phenomenon onto a work of Czech fine literature and examines the possibility of the drawing of parallels between authentic nazi discourse and its recreation in fiction. The method selected for the purpose is one of study and collation of the features and devices of original nazi language as described in existing linguistic and philological commentaries in parallel with a detailed analysis of the discourse of Bedřich Brenske, the prime nazi protagonist in Arnošt Lustig's novella A Prayer for Katerina Horovitzova (1964). The main focus throughout is on lexical and semantic aspects and their roles in the process of psychological manipulation; the analysis of the fictional text also casts light upon certain extralinguistic and paralinguistic aspects of Brenske's communication that are revealed to the reader through the narrator discourse. Consideration of Brenske's direct speech in the light of the original discourse of the Third Reich reveals a high degree of correspondence between the two, both on the fundamental level of linguistic features and in terms...
A corpus stylistic perspective on Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland"
Hrdličková, Jana ; Čermáková, Anna (advisor) ; Malá, Markéta (referee)
The goal of the present thesis is a corpus stylistic analysis of Alice in Wonderland (1865), and it presents the possibilities of using corpus methods in the study of literary texts. In the theoretical part, the thesis is concerned with an explanation of the words norm, foregrounding, deviance and prominence (Leech, 2008), which are key terms in stylistics. The text then focuses in detail on various concerns connected to keywords and clusters, which are investigated later on in the theoretical part. The relation of keywords to the reference corpus and aspects of the length and frequency of occurrence of clusters are analyzed. An important element in a corpus-based analysis is that it is supposed to decrease bias, as the researcher studies statistically based significant markers of the text. The next part of the thesis focuses on the position of Alice in Wonderland between other members of the children's literature of the Golden Age (Knowles & Malmkjaer, 1995), and the role of nonsense and non-observance of pragmatic principles of interaction in the text. The reference corpora are described and primary hypotheses stated. In the practical part, keywords are studied first. They are divided into part of speech categories and interpreted from the point of view of their role and mutual relations in the text....
Finnish perfect tense and its Czech translations in parallel corpora
Sovová, Markéta ; Fárová, Lenka (advisor) ; Čermáková, Anna (referee)
(anglicky) The BA thesis deals with the means of translation of Finnish perfect tense into Czech. There are three past tenses in Finnish, while there is only one in Czech language, and therefore Czech does not have a direct counterpart of the perfect tense. The theoretical part describes the tense systems of both languages and summarizes the meanings and usage of the Finnish perfect tense. As for the Czech language, the emphasis is on the verbal aspect, which broadens the possibilities of the Czech tense system. The five hundred examples of Finnish perfect tense and their Czech translations were excerpted from the parallel corpus InterCorp. The examples were sorted out based on the Czech translation regarding verbal tense and aspect, and afterwards the sentences were analysed with respect to the types of the perfect tense and adverbials used.
