Fifty years of Chomutov's weekly newspaper Nástup
Smrčková, Andrea ; Končelík, Jakub (advisor) ; Groman, Martin (referee)
The text deals with the history of Chomutov's weekly paper Nástup. I decided to write about this topic since I was born in Chomutov and I wanted to cover this part of the regional history. In 1960, weekly Nástup took up two village papers and followed regional political authorities in their ideology till 1989. I tried to cover the changes in the content and the personal constitution but I was interested in the price and the number of pages, too. Nástup supported the political and the social changes in 1968, gave opportunities to discussions and disputations. Nástup played an important role in the days after the occupation, because the journalist published Nástup every day for one week. They provided regional news as well as news about events in Czechoslovakia. At the beginning of the 70's, Nástup became the normalization medium. This change caused editorial staff had to leave and interrupted their journalist career for twenty years. All the time, citizens very often appealed to the weekly with their problems. They usually wrote about their troubles with institutions and offices and Nástup helped them to solve that problems. In the 80's, Nástup wrote about the ecological issues, and this topic was also actual in the next decades but the thematic coverage had been broadened. The main topics were...

English abstract The use of propaganda and methods of governing and regulation of the regional press in Czechoslovakia during 1948-1956 (using the example of the guidelines of KV and OV KSČ and the region around Liberec) The presented study follows the development of censorship and the methods of media and press control in Czechoslovakia from 1948 to1953, and in particular during 1956. This study focuses mainly on the methods and processes used by the Czechoslovak Communist Party to dominate the media and how it concentrated namely on the relationship between local and regional media and the centralized governance under the powerful influence of the Czechoslovak Communist Party. After February of 1948, the mass media in Czechoslovakia took on a different role than the one it had up until that time. Even so, up until 1953, there was no official censorship office and the media fell under the jurisdiction of the Party apparatus, or alternately under the Ministries of Education, Science and Arts or Information, which accordingly managed and influenced media content. However, it was still under the curatorship of the UV Czechoslovak Communist Party, as the following work will show. As will also be shown, after February of 1948 the Communist Party was unable to gain influence over society at various levels and...

Malinda, Jan ; Köpplová, Barbara (advisor) ; Groman, Martin (referee)
This diploma work "Controlling of local newspaper in the Litomefice district by the organs of KSC during the period 1969 - 1989" describes how the District Committee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (OV KSC) influenced the content of county (local) newspaper Proud in the course of so-called "normalization" period between 1969 and 1989. Being entirely ideologically subservient to av KSC, the "county newspaper" were issued in every county of Czechoslovakia. This subjection was thereby strongly expressed as to the content of the newspaper. The OV KSC intervened very often to the processing, deforming so the reporting and therefore the image of reality was particularly distorted. So called "Plan of themes", which was approved by av KSC every six months, represented the main ideological instrument for the invasion of newspaper-content. This "Plan of themes" sketched to the Proud's editorship which topics and subjects are necessarily to be published within the next six months. Another regulations to Proud came from emergency measures created by the Presidium of OV KSC. They included some dictates which were sent from the Presidium of the Central Committee KSC. Besides that, the av KSC intervened to Proud furthermore because of its decision making as to the position of the editor in chief and its...

Eastern-Bohemian mass media in the beginning of normalization
Slováček, Petr ; Končelík, Jakub (advisor) ; Groman, Martin (referee)
This thesis is chronologically related to the Bachelor's work ca11ed "Tumultuous Events in Eastern-Bohemian Mass-Media" and was pleaded for in the Department of History at the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy of the University of Pardubice. The thesis deals with a role and position of regional journalists in years from 1968 up to 1969 and a manner of selection of new staff for vacant (journalistic) positions as well as effects of staff changes on work of regional mass-media and a Eastern-Bohemian branch of the Union of Czech Journalists. At the beginning of the period called "Normalization" the experienced and impartial journalists were excluded from mass-media because they declined to reduce themselves to the function of a political worker. The pressure brought by totalitarian power to bear on journalists was so much strong that every journalist had to knowingly accept a role of an agitator for the leading role of the (communistic) Party. If the journalist didn't submit he or she had to leave for non-journalistic jobs, mostly working jobs. The same development occurred in the regional mass-media as well as state-wide mass-media and a little bit later it happened to journalists (outside workers, sport columns) who hadn' t engaged in the year 1968 in respect to their specialization. In the first wave their...
