Pupils' motivation to learning

The thesis "Pupils' motivation to learning" discusses how students of the 2nd degree of elementary school Praha 7, Korunovační 8, are motivated toward learning. The theoretical part deals with the issue of the definition of motivation, its resources and division of motivation. More attention is paid to intrinsic, extrinsic and flow motivation. Pupils' motivation to learning itself is also discuss in the theoretical part. Motivation is related to success or boredom at school. It determines what subjects are determined by students as favorite and vice versa. The issue of rewards and punishments is outlined at the conclusion of the theoretical part. The practical part is based on the quantitative research which was conducted among pupils at Primary school Praha 7, Korunovační 8. The research focuses on the pupils' knowledge of the area of motivation. In addition to that, the research examines how the subjects are popular. Last but not least, the research shows how students are motivated to learn. The aim of this work is to determine the views of pupils and categorize these views and compare them with the results of researches that have already been made.
Longitudinal study of the mutual influence of self-concept, social position, and assessment at the lower-secondary level

The diploma thesis covers the theme of mutual influence of assessment, self-evaluation and social position of a student in lower secondary level classes. Focus lies also on the relationship of the studied phenomena to sex of the respondents. The data from the social relationship study are analyzed thoroughly to disclose the social structure of the studied classes. The thesis is divided into two parts, a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part deals with assessment and its specifics, functions, types, forms, phases and also with self-evaluation. The topic of social group is then developed focusing on different kinds of social groups, the position and the role of the member of a group and social norms. As the third topic, the bachelor thesis concerns with a school class and its specifics, factors determining its status, the position and the role of a student in a class and also with the methods of analyzing a school class. The last topic of the theoretical part are general features of psychological development, its determiners, and life stages of psychological development with special regard to puberty. The theoretical part focuses on defining terms as class climate, class atmosphere, and class environment. An important element of the thesis is climate of the class, its typology, creators and everyone affecting the class climate. Large part of the thesis is dedicated to factors creating class climate. In general to all the teachers, more specifically class teachers, but also pupils themselves and their parents. Practical part of the thesis is focused on research of class climate. It compares the picture of the class climate from different points of view, the teachers' and pupils' points of view. It compares class climate in a small school, large town school and a private sports school. Last, but not least it brings a comparison of view on the class climate from the point of view of boys and girls.
