The representation of women in the Czech local politics and its particularities
Švadlenková, Michaela ; Jüptner, Petr (advisor) ; Gelnarová, Jitka (referee)
According to the theorists of gender and according to numerous surveys women have a different approach to politics and conduct themselves differently to men. Moreover there are some external factors, which influence the rate of women's political representation in politics. I am using the theory of the specific approach of women to politics and these external factors to find out why there is a higher representantion of women on a local level than on a national level in Czech politics. In the first part of this Bachelor's Thesis I explained the forming of gender approach, which is nowadays a respected field of science used for explaining differences between men and women. In the next chapter I found some specific character traits for women's behavior in politics, in women's approach to politics and women's priorities in politics. After that I introduced some results from foreign surveys and foreign theoretical literature about the influence of external factors on women's political participation. The third chapter is an analysis of the contemporary situation of women in politics in the Czech Republic, with particular focus on local politics. Amongst others I mentioned the attitude to the concept of gender in Czech society, the attitudes of Czech society to women in politics and the socio-economical...
Christian Democratic Party DC. Development and its position in the first Italian Republic to the so-called historic compromise
Květoňová, Petra ; Šušlíková, Lada (advisor) ; Gelnarová, Jitka (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on research of the position of the Christian Democratic Party of Italy in the system of the First Republic of Italy from its origin until the so-called historic compromise in the second half of the 70's of the 20th century. The Christian Democracy played a fundamental role in the process of forming of a new democratic republic. In the parliamentary election of 1948, which were crucial for further evolution of Italy, the Christian Democracy gained victory over the Italian Communist Party and its coalition partners, also thanks to its expressive anticommunist election campaign. Then a period of centrism began, therefore coalitions of smaller centrist parties were formed around the Christian Democracy to prevent the communist's access to governments. This conventio ad excludendum, leading to formation of the same or similar coalitions and so to the actual absence of political alternance, therefore had significant consequences for the whole party system of the First Republic of Italy, which can also be characterised as a particracy (partitocrazia). The thesis also analyses the internal structure of the party, its particular factions and, finally, also its relationship to the voters and especially to the regions of the so- called white subculture, where the Christian...
Vatican City from the Point of View of the Theory of Political System
Gelnarová, Jitka ; Říchová, Blanka (advisor) ; Dvořáková, Vladimíra (referee)
The study attempts to analyse the reality of the Vatican state in the context of convergence of the state and the Holy See. The traditional state-centred approach does not appear to be suitable for the analysis, considering the fact that Vatican represents a multidimensional phenomenon characterised by merging of a state and a non-state entity. Therefore, I attempted to apply an alternative approach, namely the theory of political system. The main theoretical basis of the study is G. Almond's structural-functional analysis that defines the political system according to functions it fulfils in the society. Departing from the theory mentioned above, I define the criteria of the political system, which I then apply on the specific reality of the Vatican state. These include the existence of society and existence of functions the system fulfils. As I examine the issue of political system, the study also encompasses a description of state characteristics of Vatican. The central part of the study is dedicated to the application of the criteria to the reality of the Vatican state. I first survey the issue of the existence of society. I come to conclusion that it is not possible to consider as society neither the inhabitants of the state, nor the Catholic Church as the community of believers. Consequently, I...
