The impacts of family conflicts on a child from the viewpoint of social work

The diploma thesis deals with the impact of family conflicts on the child from the viewpoint of social work. The thesis is divided into two parts, i.e. theoretical and practical. The theoretical part consists of three main chapters. The first chapter generally defines the family and its context. The second chapter is a fundamental one dealing with conflict in general, family conflict as such, the consequences of unresolved family conflicts, as well as methods and approaches to family conflict resolution, including family counselling and family therapy. The chapter also includes an approach of a social worker to a family where a conflict occurs or where a child is being neglected. The third chapter complements the two previous ones, briefly discusses the family in divorce, especially the role of a social worker in divorce proceedings. Furthermore, the development of the divorce rate in the Czech Republic and its family policy. The practical part deals with research focusing on experiences and views of social workers in the area of the social and legal protection of children. 7 Anotace v cizím jazyce Annotation This bachelor work deals with foster care in the Czech Republic. I tried to approach not only history itself but also performance of foster care nowadays. In the first part, the basic terms used in this field are explained as well as important historical moments regarding foster care. Description of different forms and kinds of foster care is also included. Second part describes mediation and fosterage itself. Duties and discretions of foster parents including outline of child care benefits are also implicated, as amended by Act no. 359/1999 Sb, social - legal child protection. Final part shows course of foster care itself in one family from my close connection who brought up 2 children. The final parts of this chapter evaluates the importance of foster care in the society including experience of real foster parents in application on valid legislation. Social work in the context of domestic violence combined with mental illness

The diploma thesis follow up the possibilities of social work with survivor of domestic violence having mental illness. The theoretical part summarizes the current form of social work with the target group of clients by survivor of domestic violence and the target group of clients with mental illness. In the practical part is described the investigation of this issue, analyzed interviews with social workers and proposal of work methodology. In the final discussion, the results of the survey and the success of the proposed methodology are controversial.
Social Work in Palliative Care in a Hospital

The topic of this work - social work in palliative care - is very up-to-date because in the last three years, thanks to the "Together until the end" program of the Avast Foundation Fund, specialized palliative care has been introduced in eighteen Czech hospitals, which is a response to the fact that 78% of the citizens of the Czech Republic die in healthcare facilities. The goal of the thesis was to answer the research question: "How do social workers at the Central Military Hospital in Prague who have experience with clients in the terminal stage of illness describe the means to achieve the goals of social work in palliative care in the hospital?" To find out the answer to this question, we have used the Grounded theory research method and realized a research in the CMH in Prague. The main findings of the research consist in describing the objectives of social work in palliative care in the hospital as understood by the respondents, and in the description of the means used to achieve these goals and the links between them. These objectives are: the client's wishes and the quality of life with dignified dying and among the means is the relationship between the social worker, the client and the family; social counselling and family care.
