Optical amplifiers for metropolitan and access networks
Čech, Martin ; Šporik, Jan (referee) ; Tejkal, Vladimír (advisor)
Aim of this Master´s thesis is to describe and compare most common types of optical amplifiers used in today’s networks. The first section focuses on problematic of optical transmissions and phenomenon which cause degradation of transmitted signal. It is also explained in this section why there is a need to deploy optical amplifiers. Next section describes basic principles, structure and properties of individual types of optical amplifiers. Following section describes simulations which were made to compare the performance of transmission systems with each individual type of optical amplifier. The last section contains a design of optical metropolitan network with wavelength multiplex. Based on simulations from preceding part best amplifier type and optimal amplifier placement was selected. Functionality of the design was tested and simulations described in final section.
Server clustering techniques
Čech, Martin ; Polívka, Michal (referee) ; Pelka, Tomáš (advisor)
The work is given an analysis of Open Source Software (further referred as OSS), which allows use and create computer clusters. It explored the issue of clustering and construction of clusters. All installations, configuration and cluster management have been done on the operating system GNU / Linux. Presented OSS makes possible to compile a storage cluster, cluster with load distribution, cluster with high availability and computing cluster. Different types of benchmarks was theoretically analyzed, and practically used for measuring cluster’s performance. Results were compared with others, eg. the TOP500 list of the best clusters available online. Practical part of the work deals with comparing performance computing clusters. With several tens of computational nodes has been established cluster, where was installed package OpenMPI, which allows parallelization of calculations. Subsequently, tests were performed with the High Performance Linpack, which by calculation of linear equations provides total performance. Influence of the parallelization to algorithm PEA was also tested. To present practical usability, cluster has been tested by program John the Ripper, which serves to cracking users passwords. The work shall include the quantity of graphs clarifying the function and mainly showing the achieved results.
Evolution of the Lancia Sport Cars
Čech, Martin ; Beran, Martin (referee) ; Svída, David (advisor)
This thesis deals with the development of Lancia sports and racing cars. The main goal is to clarify design solutins, described them and do an analysis. Alternatively to compare how the competition dealt with the problem. The first part outlines the emergence of car factory and briefly describes the first cars, their design and especially the innovative features. In the second part two successful racing cars from the racing field are decribed and analyzed in detail.
Measurements results assessment and emission limits
Čech, Martin ; Jedlička, Filip (referee) ; Dvořák, Radek (advisor)
Main content of this task is summary and explanation of main methods, which can be used to evaluation the results from measuring of pollutants in combustion gases. The way which should be most acceptable for our datas will be consequently used in a simply example. There will be mentioned the importace of chosing the entering datas and their dependence on outer conditions. Another chapter will be devoted to emission standarts of main pollutants in Czech republic and in chosen world countries too. There will be mentioned the historical developement of these standarts and hypothesis to the future about this question too.
Lubricants in Up-to-date Combustion Engines
Čech, Martin ; Svída, David (referee) ; Dundálek, Radim (advisor)
In my bachelor work I have tried to analyze informations about lubricants in up to date combustion engines. This work deals with motor oils and their viscosity and performance classification The special motor oils for motorcycles are part of this bachelor work too. One of the aims of bachelor work provide informations about gear oils for automatic as well as manual transmissions and their classification. This work describes also questions about additives.

The first Czech methodology for the assessment of ecological potential of heavily modified water bodies and artificial water bodies based on fish communities was developed. The first step of developing the methodology was preparing the typology of water bodies. The typology distinguishes between water bodies of different altitudes and with and without thermal stratification. Fish were sampled by multimesh gillnets following European standard procedures. The selection of fish metrics was based on statistical analyses in which metrics (fish community indicators) were correlated with the most common stressor – eutrophication. The analysis detected several sensitive metrics (metrics showing the best correlation with the stressor) in which ecological class boundaries were set. Afterwards, combination of sensitive metrics was used for calculation of the ecological quality ratio (EQR) for each of the reservoir sampled. The EQR expresses the deviation between a reservoir’s current ecological status and its maximum potential. The next step consisted of validating the EQR with an independent pressure index and verifying the time stability of ecological potential assessment. The metrics used in the methodology fulfill all the obligations set forth in the Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC), which include assessment of the composition, abundance and age structure of fish fauna.
