In my graduation thesis, I researched and discussed European Union of Music Competition for Youth (ECY). This organization covers more than 50 music institutions for youth throughout Europe. I described the foundational principles of EMCY, its membership requirements, its main activities, and its operational methods. I also focused on the music competitions organized by active members of EMCY which are held in the Czech Republic. I described in detail theunique characteristics of these competitions.

Media relations in music field

The aim of this master degree diploma thesis is to describe the subject of media relations from the theoretical point of view as well as from its practical matters. The main purpose of media relations is to manage the communication with press, radio or TV and to createrelations with journalists, which can in the end lead to support marketing activities via media coverage. In the first part of this thesis, media relations are described through its nativ e relative, public relations. Then in the second part, particular relevant studies on the music field (focused on classical music) are made as well as asmall research for what exact part of metida is covering this music field in the Czech Republic.

Jena Philharmonic Orchestra

Graduation thesis "Jena philharmonic orchestra" deals with the specific sector of German music market - symphonic orchestra. The first part of the thesis introduces the general situation in German orchestras. Stated facts in the paper are natural consequences of the year 1989 when the western Federal Republic of Germany and the eastern German Democratic Republic united to form one state. Special attention is given to the subsequent structural changes of music organisations (including orchestras) and the way of their financing according to the tariff classes that they belong to. The second part of the paper describes organisation and structure of Jena philharmonic Orchestra and particularly the way of public funding of this regional orchestra. The focus is laid on the specific legal form of the orchestra and the existence of the individual contract between the founder and the orchestra. Business and operation of the whole orchestra are described with the help of marketing mix and the statistical facts from the metioned time period and the last few years. The diploma paper is accompanied by graphic diagrams, tables, pictures and copies of the ntern unpublished documents that the Jena philharmonic Orchestra kindly lent for this thesis. The graduation thesis Jena Orchestra has the ambition of being one of the first published documents enabling Czech readers to get some general ideas about this part of German music scene which has not been covered yet very much besides the situation in Berlin and leipzig.

Czech Art and Culture - International Cooperation and Presentation Abroad

Presentation of Czech culture and art abroad has two different basis - private and public (or political). In my thesis I concentrate on the role of state and government institutions in this field, on the position of culture itself in the social structure and also on position of the presentation abroad and international cooperation in the cultural policy conceptions and in the funding system of culture. The thesis is basically divided in two parts - at first I search the basement for national cultural activities which are the source of good presentation abroad ("so that we have something to present") and the support for projects of international cooperation in the Czech government structure, then I deal with "marketing strategy of the Czech republic", foreign policy in the cultural field and with the way Czech government treats with the foreign presentation generally and the role of culture there. At theend I chose several interesting parallels from Great britain.

Support of Czech music culture from public and private sources

The cultural heritage of a country needs the support of the public as a whole to develop. Funding for the Czech musical heritage is a problem frequently discussed amongst producers, organizers, artists, and of course audiences, the "rank-and-file" members of the public. (Indeed, the last mentioned are the most important, since as taxpayers they actually support the whole system.)
Has funding for the arts been sufficient? How is the private sector doing in this respect, and what else can it do to contribute to the support and growth of the arts? What are the risks of public funding, what are the advantages, and what is the point of ?public service for the arts??
The topic of my M.A. dissertation, which follows on from the research of my B.A. work, is to examine the funding provided in 2004 by the Czech Ministry of Culture, as well as the regions and municipalities, for the major music institutions in the Czech Republic. I seek to provide an overview of the most important sources of funding and institutions in the private sector, focusing on music and the arts in general as ways of making society more humane.

International Artist Managers´Association IAMA, 15th International Conference IAMA 2005

The main subject of my MA thesis is the activity of The International Artist Managers´Association in the field of music management. The main chapters and subchapters attend to its activity, history, mission, memberships and survey to the activity of its affiliated institutions. As a practical response to the first mostly theoretical introduction is placed here the practical chapter about organizing International Conference in Prague 2005, where I have participated as a Conference Coordinator. The atractivity of this chapter is supported by the questionnaires of the Czech delegates. The important part of Conference chapter is information about the budget and the sponsorship. The last chapter results from the Czech background, summarizes the historical resources of association and is based on the verbal sources of information from the Chech associations milieu. It endeavours to evaluate the reasons of association and the perspective of czech subjects in the field of these activities. The conclusion summarises and evaluates the activity of associations in the Czech republic and in the world.

Czech Television in the Years 1992 - 2005 with Respect to Music Programmes Production

Bachelor thesis named "Czech Television in the Years 1992 - 2005 with Respect to Music Programmes Production" refers about history of Czech television (CT) in sequence to Czechoslovak television (CST). There are mentioned CT programmes, defined differences between public and commercial broadcasting. The position of Production centre of art programmes (PCUP)/Centre of music and dramatic programmes (CDHT) in terms of the total CT structure is described in details. The conception of broadcasting chart and production assignment is explained. Production assignment of CT and production assignment of PCUP/CDHT are compared with one another. Total figure of broadcasted hours in the years 1992 - 2005 is told. There are practical examples of production costs in the chapter named Production. In the chapter Ratings, general notions of rating and share areexplained and ratings of selected programmes in the years 2000 - 2005 are mentioned.

Database of the concert halls in Prague

This thesis is documentation for a practical project of the "Concert halls" database which is published on the internet at www.prehled.net/koncertni-saly. The purpose of this work is to create a tool helping the organizers of musical performances to find suitable site for their art projects. The database contains technical details of concert places in Prague and some of the concert halls in other Czech regions and allows the user to search according to different parameters. Besides the project documentation there is also a section concerning the comparison of parameters of prominent music halls in the Czech Republic.And towards the end you will find a list of unconventional concert places in Prague.
