The History of Osek Monastery in the Years 1938 - 1950

This diploma thesis aims to describe and interpret the events that happened in the Cistercian monastery in Osek near Duchcov close to the Czech state border with Germany. The focus will be put on the events that occurred in the years 1938 - 1950. The key period is especially connected with the end of the Second World War and with the expulsion of Germans and of the German religious that had been interned in the monastery. The second key period is associated with the foundation of the Salesian "studentát" (a training institution). Another theme is related to the nationwide "Akce K", a raid on monasteries and a centralization of religious in internment camps. The thesis is mainly based on personal testimonies, which are presented in a relevant historical context with use of archive materials and of relevant literature about the relations between church and state in Czechoslovakia. The goal of the thesis is to present and describe the Cistercian order as such and the situation of this order in a Czech monastery, which is - for its vastness and splendour - called The Pearl of Ore Mountains. Our Lady, Trinity and Saints' Columns in Hradec Králové and Rychnov Regions

My diploma thesis deals with a question of when and where it is possible to seek for origins of columns, questions like why were Our Lady, Trinity and Saints' columns built in Europe and what was the cause of plaque epidemic and its results in Europe are answered. The main part of my diploma thesis focuses on places where these sculptures are situated. The zone is defined by the formal Hradec Králové division and by the town Rychnov nad Kněžnou. The author of this diploma thesis compares his knowledge with works of other authors. In the supplement, the columns are depicted including the map of their placement in Hradec Králové District and in Rychnov nad Kněžnou.
Catholic Reformation in Kozmografie česká by Zikmund of Púchov

Catholic reform in the Kosmografia česká of Zikmund of Púchov The Kosmografia česká appeared in Prague in 1554 as Czech version of Cosmographia universalis by Sebestian Münster. It was on king Ferdinand I.'s recomendation in the connection with the talks on solution of religious situation in Czech Lands and in particular on problems of proper education tendencies effective to impede further propagation of heresy. The publishing costs bore the administrator of Prague archbishopric Jan of Púchov, while his nephew Zikmund of Púchov translated and laid out the book. This work describes publishing Cosmography in hictorical and literary context, tries to cover circumstances of its origin and their impact on the book conception too. It pays special attention to commentaries of Zikmund of Púchov in which he favoured a reform of the Christian society, dirupted by demoralization, religious disunion and threatened by Turkish expansion. Making much account of the Habsburg House's special role an the world rectification, he stressed their importance and function at the Church reformation as well as protection of Christendom against Turkish menace. Catholic Church and Extremism in the Czech Republic

In the following work I will try to describe, as a title prompts, the relation between extremism and Catholicism, including ways of Christian rhetoric which are used by some extremist organizations. I am mainly focusing on a grouping with a function in Czech republic after 1989, although I am trying to see this topic in the most possible spread point of view. It means my effort in surveying this part of extremism partly according to its development. I have tried to analyze an opinions of groups individually and creating more general view for the structure of extremist and radical organizations, as well, using some elements of catholic faith during their lectures. Next to this view I am trying to distinguish two main styles in Christianity and extremism - political (those groups has especially political ambitions) and radical-catholic (organizations aiming for "purity" of a society in a way of traditional church values, but using elements of anti-system during their work). Further research, based on this background, about ways of using a Christianity in these organizations leading to destroy their own interests. It seeks to further analysis and grip issues relating Czech and Czech-german Catholics to the Czechoslovak Republic in 1918.
