Plasmonic Antennas
Kvapil, Michal ; Brzobohatý, Oto (referee) ; Novák, Stanislav (referee) ; Šikola, Tomáš (advisor)
Tato disertační práce pojednává o plazmonických anténách. Rezonanční vlastnosti plazmonických antén jsou studovány teoreticky i experimentálně.
Unidirectional plasmonic antennas
Formanová, Veronika ; Hrtoň, Martin (referee) ; Kvapil, Michal (advisor)
This thesis deals with directional V-shaped plasmonic antennas. In the thesis, an analytical model of antenna emission is proposed. The results of analytical computations are compared with results of numerical simulations in Lumerical FDTD Solutions package. Also, the process of fabrication of such antennas by electron beam lithography and measurement of optical properties using Fourier infrared spectroscopy is described and measured antenna resonant spectra are shown. Finally, there is a proposal of an experiment to prove the emission directivity of fabricated V-shaped antennas.
Localized Surface Plasmons: Principles and Application
Kvapil, Michal ; Schmidt, Eduard (referee) ; Šikola, Tomáš (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with plasmonic nanostructures for visible eventually near-infrared region of electromagnetic spectrum. At first, there are discussed basic terms which are necessary for description of plasmonic nanostructures and their properties. Then the resonant properties of gold nanoantennas on a fused silica substrate and in proximity of nanocrystalline diamond are addressed. FDTD simulations are used for an assesment of resonant properties and local electric field enhancement of these nanostructures. Possible manufacturing methods of the antennas and techniques for the measurement of their properties are mentioned at the end of the thesis.
Deposition of Indium Tin Oxide and study of its optical properties
Olivíková, Gabriela ; Kvapil, Michal (referee) ; Dvořák, Petr (advisor)
This work is focused on preparation and deposition of thin layers of indium tin oxide (ITO) by ion beam sputtering (IBS) and ion beam assisted deposition (IBAD). In the theoretical part, the electrical and optical properties, preparation methods, and applications are reviewed. In the experimental part, the optical and transport properties of deposited films are investigated by spectroscopic methods. It is shown that simultaneous bombardment of the surface with oxygen ions with energy 80 eV results in increase of transmittance in the visible range of spectrum. IBAD thus confirmed as a suitable method for modification of optical properties.
Optical properties of infrared plasmonic antennas fabricated by FIB technique
Biolek, Vladimír ; Dvořák, Petr (referee) ; Kvapil, Michal (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with plasmonic nanostructures for mid-infrared region of electromagnetic spectrum. In the first part, there are discussed theoretical description of electromagnetic field and description of properties of plasmonic nanostructures. Then the manufacturing methods of the plasmonic nanostructures for mid-infrared region of electromagnetic spectrum are discussed using focused ion beam, and measurement of these nanostructures are discussed using Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy.

Functionalized nanostructures
Váňa, Rostislav ; Kvapil, Michal (referee) ; Kolíbal, Miroslav (advisor)
This thesis deals with functionalized nanoparticles. In the first part there are mentioned materials suitable for a functionalization, the usage of functionalized nanoparticles in medicine and biochemistry and detection methods of changes of optical properties. In the second part changes of optical properties after functionalization are investigated by spectroscopic ellipsometry and FTIR spectroscopy.
Creation of plasmonic micro- and nanostructures by electron beam lithography
Babocký, Jiří ; Dvořák, Petr (referee) ; Kvapil, Michal (advisor)
This beachelor’s thesis deals with a fabrication of plasmonic antennas using electron beam lithography. First section consists of summary of a technologies that can be used for production of metallic micro and nanostructures on silicon and glass substrate. Second section provides a description of electron beam lithography method and technologies that are used for it. Final part describes experiments, that were done and empiric model describing dependance of dimension of fabricated structures on lithographic parameters.
Plasmonic Resonant Antennas
Kvapil, Michal ; Dub, Petr (referee) ; Tomanec, Ondřej (advisor)
In the first part, using of nano- and microparticles in the plasmonics as well as the possibility of measurement resonant spectra of metallic nanostructures by photoluminescence are discussed. The main part of the work is focused on testing the possibility of using software Lumerical FDTD Solution 5.1.3 to simulate near field enhancement in the vinicity of plasmonic resonant antennas. Finally the results of simulations and analytical computation are confronted.
Implementation of production hall gross superstructure
Kvapil, Michal ; Kučera, Zdeněk (referee) ; Kantová, Radka (advisor)
Writing of this bachelor thesis was stimulated by the construction of a new production hall in my hometown. It had been a long time since a similar project was dealt with in this town, and therefore it aroused my interest. The bachelor thesis includes the description and technical documentation for the construction of the reinforced concrete building frame of the production hall of the M&T company in Dobruška. The aim of this thesis is to solve the method and potential problems of the construction. I focused on the ceiling of the administrative part of the building. Contrary to the original technical documentation, I suggested cheaper and more time-saving solution of the ceiling: using the prestressed hollow core slab SPIROLL instead of the reinforced concrete composite floor slab FILIGRAN and concreting of the ceiling. I suggested this solution on the basis of my personal experience with the implementation of various types of the ceiling, and the subsequent analysis of their advantages and disadvantages. My suggested solution of the ceiling caused the reduction of this stage’s costs by 13% and the time reduction by 71% of working time. The other aim of this thesis was to solve the problems with the excessive and oversize transportation of the reinforced concrete roof trusses. In the end, these transportation problems together with the financial aspects resulted in the revision of the original technical documentation. The investor decided for the less demanding solution of the construction and for the shorter span of the hall. As for the concreting machinery, I suggested to use the machines (mixer truck and mobile concrete pump) from the nearby concrete plant to reduce the total transportation costs. The main contribution of the bachelor thesis is acquaintance with the construction of the reinforced concrete building frame and with practical verification and comparison of two different solutions of one construction with respect to the financial and time investments
