Functional tests on mixtures of the test section with asphalt concrete and high amount of RAP
Kučerová, Marcela ; Zajíček, Jan (referee) ; Varaus, Michal (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on the testing of asphalt mixtures of asphalt concrete containing reclaimed asphalt and laying of the test section. The theoretical part deals with the use of reclaimed asphalt in hot asphalt mixtures, namely the specifics of rejuvenating agents, aging and asphalt mixture. Further more information on the functional properties of asphalt mixtures and the influence of reclaimed asphalt on them is given. The practical part describes testing of mixtures of ACO 11+ and ACO 11+ with 50% reclaimed asphalt and tests on asphalt binders. In order to compare the proposed mixtures, the low thermal properties of ČSN EN 12697-46 and the stiffness modules according to ČSN EN 12697-26. In the last part of the diploma thesis the results of the measured values were compared with each other in order to determine of asfphalt recovery. From the overall test results, it can be seen that the effect of the rejuvenating agent was positive. However, the desired degree of rejuvenation has not been achieved after production.
Design and evaluation of the main types road construction
Nenál, Marek ; Meluzin, Petr (referee) ; Varaus, Michal (advisor)
This thesis deals with the design and evaluation of roads with the help of computer programs Rosy and Laymed. The theoretical part describes the basic parameters entering into the calculation. The practical part then compares individual computer programs for specific measured areas.
Compactibility of the materials for subgrade
Kolbábek, Jiří ; Varaus, Michal (referee) ; Stehlík, Dušan (advisor)
This thesis is focused on differences between compaction of fine-grained and coarse-grained soils. It presents selected compaction methods and it describes their principles and implementation procedures. In the practical part is performed classification of both types of soils and then samples are compacted by three methods. The result of this work is to compare the effects of compaction on fine-grained and coarse-grained soil.
Design of low-noise asphalt mixtures
Řehulka, Martin ; Koudelka, Tomáš (referee) ; Varaus, Michal (advisor)
The Master’s thesis is focused on low-noise asphalt mixtures in general, namely asphalt concrete for very thin layers with low noise (BBTM 8 NH) and stone mastic asphalt with low noise (SMA 8 NH). The first half of the thesis describes basic types of asphalt mixtures with low noise, requirements for raw materials (aggregates and asphalt), noise emissions and their measurement methods. The second part deals the design of BBTM 8 NH and SMA 8 NH so that they have the same voids. Subsequently, their parameters were tested. Acoustic absorption, resistence against permanent deformation and stiffness. Test methods are described and evaluated.
Design of pavement structures with the program ALIZE
Kašný, Michal ; Varaus, Michal (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the analysis of stress and strain burdened road construction. Comparison of dimensioning using programs LayEps and Alize and introduction modules of this program.
Design of special asphalt mixtures SAL for the repair of cement concrete pavements
Kalfeřt, Martin ; Špaček, Petr (referee) ; Varaus, Michal (advisor)
In this thesis layer with increased resistance to crack propagation (SAL) are designed. The theoretical part describes the SAL layer, further the input materials, their production and design of various mixtures. The following is a description of the tests, which include tests of permanent deformation, crack propagation, low-temperature characteristics, test, flexural strength and relaxation. After the test results and conclusion are stated.
Experimental design of asphalt mixtures
Němec, Jan ; Zajíček, Jan (referee) ; Varaus, Michal (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on an experimental design of low-noise asphalt mixtures. The theoretical part describes the problems of noise and methods for noise measurements. There are also specified the characteristics of various low-noise asphalt mixtures. The practical part addresses the experimental design of SMA 8 LA. Subsequently, the mixture is exposed to functional testing and the results are afterwards compared with the conventional type of stone mastix asphalt SMA 8 S. The second part is focused primarily on an experimental mixture design of a specific asphalt mixture type - coated macadam. There is especially solved the issue ofbinder drainage and the proportion of cracked grains during the compaction. The advantage of this mixture is the lower price demands cause by lower binder content and a smaller amount of fine aggregate. This mixture should be used as a base layer for low-loaded (traffic) roads. In the conclusion are thereafter evaluated the knowledge and the experience with the testing and designing of individual mixtures gained during the testing.
Recycling of asphalt mixtures for low-traffic roads
Musil, Lukáš ; Dašek, Ondřej (referee) ; Varaus, Michal (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with 100% pure recycling by method of hot mix asphalt recycling using a rejuvenating additive (so-called rejuvenator) for the device development in cooperation with an external company. The aim of bachelor's thesis is to determine the amount of dosing of the rejuvenator and to determine the compaction temperature for the processing the asphalt mixture. On the basis of determining the properties of the reclaimed asphalt pavement, by means of tests in the laboratory. According to the determined properties of the reclaimed asphalt pavement, the percentage of rejuvenator required to achieve the required properties of the asphalt mixture for subsequent processing and laying on the road.
Recycling of asphalt mixtures with standard amount of RAP
Staňková, Michaela ; Koudelka, Tomáš (referee) ; Varaus, Michal (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the design of an asphalt mixture for an abrasive layer with a standard R-material content (20 %) without the use of other softening additives, while the properties of the aged asphalt binder in the mixture were compensated by dosing "softer binder 70/100". Asphalt mixtures type ACO 11+ are designed to meet the requirements ČSN 73 6121: 2019. The aim of the work is to verify the expected properties of the asphalt mixture performed functional and empirical tests according to the standards for asphalt mixtures of the ČSN EN 12697 series.
Recycling of asphalt mixtures with higher amount of RAP
Klimek, Matěj ; Koudelka, Tomáš (referee) ; Varaus, Michal (advisor)
The theoretical part of the diploma thesis recapitulates the existing literature in the field of recycling asphalt mixtures with a higher content of RAP (Reclaimed asphalt pavement). The practical part of the diploma thesis examines changes in the properties of asphalt mixtures with a higher content of RAP, due to changes in mixing time. Five mixtures have been proposed for this research. It is an asphalt mixture intended for the road abrasive layer (ACO 11+). Reference mixture "A" without RAP, with a standard mixing time of 25 seconds. Mixture "B" with 40% RAP, without rejuvenator, with an extended mixing time of 40 seconds. Mixture "C" with 40% RAP, with rejuvenator and standard mixing time. Mixture "D" with 40% RAP with rejuvenator and extended mixing time of 40 seconds. Mixture "E" with 40% RAP, with rejuvenator and extended mixing time of 55 seconds.
